The one that sold at least 2 million, and was probably seen by at least a few million more people with the youtube lets plays it got? Its difficult to think of a more problematic, and possibly illegal, plot for a video game. But that porn game got a not-porn anime now and the anime feminist review is positive! All said and done, I know this show isn’t for everyone. This may be my cat’s meow, but not everyone has devoted all their waking moments in life to being a feral catgirl. I just have to remind myself that just because this show was made for me doesn’t mean that everyone else has to watch it. I can respect that.  But you’ll still be hearing from me later when I pitch this as 2020’s problematic fave of the year. Surprised??? I guess some anime fan-service is fine if it is about cute catgirls because some women like cute catgirls. But don't worry, this isn't a sign that feminists are fine with fanservice shows in general. There is an almost-porn anime this season about reviewing monster girl prostitutes. A different anime feminist writer has a problem with this show. I made myself right comfy in the AniFem Cavern of Low Expectations, happy to ride out the titty show for monsterfuckers and tell you all: “Hey, at least it’s all about consenting adults. ” Partway through the episode, I paused the stream to get dinner. I think that may have been where it all went wrong.... She also happens to be one of the bird-people referenced in the review; when she gets embarrassed about all the men in her place of work loudly reading a review about how her species has such-and-such sensitivities and are total demons in the sack, Stunk then feels up one of her species’ stated erogenous zones to humiliate her. But hey, she punches him, so it’s square, right? ‘90s anime logic. Goddammit, I thought, as I reached for my Feminist Killjoy hat. Here’s the thing: I meant what I said earlier, that there are certain flexibilities in porn as a genre to explore more id-driven content. If nothing else, its status as a denigrated medium makes it easier to separate out from the more insidiously normalizing content that markets itself as narrative art. But the last sketch of (God help me) Interspecies Reviewers is a good example of why it’s still important to be mindful of and think critically about porn’s broader trends. Yes. It is very important that everybody be mindful of the trends in anime porn, (and also almost-porn nudity filled anime). If you are a SJW, it is your responsibility to do lots of "research" on what's trendy in anime porn this year. Pay close attention to make sure you can remember all the details of what you see. Because after watching it, you must do lots of critical thinking on what you've seen. Because after thinking about it, you have another job to do. None of this is to say that you’re not allowed to have dirty thoughts about the giant-boobied ladies on display here, but maybe we could all try having a meaningful conversation about what the medium could be as opposed to shrugging it off as a lost cause? You must talk about your deep anime porn thoughts with other people. And no, this won't be a positive conversation between fans of anime porn about what they liked. This will be a meaningful conversation with other critical anime porn watchers who all agree that anime porn is not meeting your high standards for deep art that focuses on woke social commentary. The makers of this monster girl prostitute anime porn could have definitely improved every society in the world, if only they tried to include some good political messages, in addition to drawing the cow girl massive boobs. But I guess they didn't care about saving women and minorities enough to try to change people's political opinions with their porn anime, so the first episode only had naked bird girls. So that means to make up for their missed opportunity everybody else must be mindful of and think critically about anime porn’s broader trends. It's the only way to save and protect real world women from the drawings in anime shows designed to titillate people. I'm sure a lot of people would be very uncomfortable watching lots of anime porn for trend "research", and having public conversations about the anime porn they've watched. But anyone who wants to be on the SJW side of the culture war must be willing to sacrifice all their personal comfort in order to achieve whatever important thing that complaining about anime porn is supposed to accomplish.

Watch Stream first contact. I too want to understand how he found out he was gay. Watch stream first cowboy online. I gotta give a shoutout to Pam from 'Martin' in this trailer. The release of Age2DE at 14 november was an exciting event. Many were positively suprised by this new remake but also many were a bit dissapointed. We had to get used to the new graphics, and the balance and game stability had to be adressed in a December patch. Now, nearing the end of 2019, many of us are still somehwat dissappointed in this (second) remake of Age of Empires 2 by Microsoft. Especially within the comptitive community and the frequent viewers of some of the popular Age2 channels on Twitch and Mixer the experience of the game is often negative. There is a fear that this version of the game will split the community rather than unite it (part of the player base can't make the switch to DE because they lack the computer specs to run the game, another part would happily return to the way they played the game before, because they prefer the features of Userpatch or Voobly)... The addition of 4 new civs + campaigns, the quality of life improvements (command queue, shift queueing, healthbars on hovering over objects) and the server-based platform all sound really exciting and they are the reason I'm still playing on Age2DE myself (nearly reached 200 hours on Age2DE). However, I will join the group of dissatisfied users that now is in dubio wether to play Age2DE (which is thrilling because it's new, and where my friends and many significant players are active), or the good old version I liked playing on Voobly (WololoKingdoms)... Let's analyse (the current state of) Age2DE in more detail, but first, let me tell where I come from: I'm HenkDeSuperNerd, you're average 'competitive player' I have no significant Rating achieved to be anywhere near being 'pro' but I have a good understanding of the game. I have probably accumulared a few thousand hours by playing Age of Empires for the last 3 years. I frequently watched streams (mostly T90Official, Nili, Viper, EscapeGaming, or smaller streamers) and I'm also involved as content creator in this Age2 community. I script random maps for my own pleasure, some maps are featured on Community Games day by T90Official. I also made a few tournament maps and helped to create mappacks and adjust maps to fit tournament standards. I have hosted a tournament on Random Everything, a massive mapscript that takes MegaRandom and multiplies the possibilities with infitinity. (It's more like HyperRandom, the mapscript Zetnus made for DE) I've also hosted a map design contest where mapscripters had 24hours to build a map from scratch. A fun event, and not unimportant, a way to unite the community of map scripters. As a player I've participated in some friendly tournaments (some friendly tourneys hosted by members of the T90 discord), I always sign up for King of the Hipp (by Nili), I have played NationCup 2017 for NL_D (the dissaster that was), I have teamed with Viper to lose to Daut (all hail! ) in masters and apprentiences, but mostly, I played casual teamgames with friends or randoms on WololoKingdoms around the 1600-1700 Voobly rating. So what's wrong? Promises (Lies) DE would have an AI able to beat 7 original hardest AI all by itself (this wasn't true:) Open beta would be quick to accept a large quantity of players the trailer shown at E3, the Developers have claimed that units getting stuck in the fights were not bugged unit but rather the unit was on no attack stance. Pathing would have improved over HD. () This turned out not to be the case. Attack move is broken (makes units freeze) and pathing is still a big mess (significantly worse than we see on userpatch) the minimal specs are an intelcore 2 with 4 GB of ram. Recommended is an i5 with 8 GB of ram. (However, I would advise everyone to buy a super computer with one of the latest i7's with 16GB of high quality RAM otherwise you risk experiencing a slideshow or dropping from multiplayer games due to your device running out of memory) Why not use what's already proven to work? learn from matchmaking from other multiplayer games (such as Legaue of Legends): a reconnect button once you lose connection to server a surrender vote poll a remake poll when someone drops during queue players can browse through tech trees, leader boards, or chat with friends. while queueing with a friend allow players to chat. learn social aspects from a platform like voobly: a friend list easily viewed when in the game menu (instead of current system, where your steam firends that are online and looking for games are not displayed differently than someone who is logged into steam playing another game) see who is in game, also filter players when you want to invite them in 'in game', 'looking' or 'AFK' ignore list so you can prevent matching up against annoying players post-game chat & replay option, so you can play again with the same enemies after a successful game watch list & streamer icon players can join a room as spectator, where they can talk to eachother in spectator chat. They can see the chat by the players, see who is in game, how much time has elapsed in the game), hover over players that are in game to see their statistics: their rating as well as number of games played, winstreak, nationality, and ratings from other ladders. see who is online, who is playing, who is looking for games. Great to see what friends might join, which possible opponents you could message to play a quick 1v1 or to see what game to spectate when your two favorite pro players are playing against another. Learn game improvements from Userpatch/WololoKingdoms: improved pathing custom AI improvements (Barbarian) map scripting improvement (team-position, up-effect, guard-state(allows regicide+KOTH combo), AI info to be used to display the maps name in a map pack under objectives, direct_placement and group_placement break the scenario editor during game, switch seat to play as an opponent Learn from Capture age unlimited zoom total health pool comparison easy toggle of selected player overview of economic or military units important technologies completed Listen to (pro) player feed back civ-balancing map-balancing choice of maps for ranked play map bans civ picks, random civ, or civ bans? Other (obvious) improvements I can suggest regarding maps and Scenario editor: Scenario editor can use a lot of Qualtiy of Life improvements, starting with a undo/redo button In scenario editor default should be 2 player (tiny) map In scenario editor, it would be nice to be able to copy the seed of a randomly generated map Scenario editor breaks when loading some map scripts In the scenario editor some aditional hotkeys would be usefull. At least you allowed us to scroll through the lenghty lists of units and objects with up and down key with the december patch.. copy & paste mode is terrible to work with for custom random map scripts, allow team placement by assigning a player land to a specific player, or a random player from a specific team. The competitive comunity just got familiar with 'fixed position' something that was actually added as an option for non-ranked games. Sad to see this is only limited to casual lobby now. More control of who plays where would also allow us map scripters to make more specific maps such as 'besiege', ' enemy archipelago', or 'overlord' additionally, up-effect (introduced with userpatch) allows to modify stats of units within a mapscript. Obviously that can be abused to create some very werid maps, but it can also be used in moderation to aquire some competitive (tournament) maps like: mangrovemaps (with balance), no-wall-arabia, no-cut-BlackForest, Regicide+King of the Hill combo; or crazy maps like: exploding villagers, exploding kings, battle royale, cannonboar nothing. many bugs still exists and some new bugs were even introduced for making random maps. Maps crashing when only 1 border is assigned, circle radius being affected by the terrain's border fuzziness, lands overlapping, (land)connections not generating properly, etc... it would be nice to make our own art-facets for custom maps, currently every custom map displays with a grey '? ' image Changes you did NOT have to make: Added randomness on (ranked) maps: variable amount of relics variable type of herdables (cows, sheep etc) serengeti type woodlines (acacia trees with annoying gaps in between) reduced number and spread of gold/stone on nomad, as well as frequently forests on hills matchmaking features that aren't great: Some maps are very much frowned upon: 1v1 Black forest, mega random.. increasing the number of map choices could be an option?  allow at least one ban for every player in a 4v4. pick civ. This leads to same matchups over and over. Other questionable decisions: removed ELO display from casual lobby, Why?? save and exit is no longer a possibility in ranked games. mod workshop now only transfers the content temporarily. Ok that might be good to prevent sharing of bad content. However, this means players wont be able to find back the mod/map they played unless they subscribe. More importantly: spectators cannot watch a match played with custom content unless they are subscribed to the content. the UI is scalable however some elements wont scale well like unit icons, which are way too small to differentiate the UI shows blue colour units in selection panel/ production panel even for players that are a different colour scenery objects like grass and rocks are confusing and easily mistaken for a tree or other object. Then there is civ-balance... There were some questionable decisions (goths nerfed by not having supplies), no buffs for some underrated civs like turks, teutons, vietnamese (only minor buff), while some already strong civs gained a bonus: Persians with trash-bows & faster working towncenters from darkage on. However, I don't want to go in detail on the balancing of civilizations. Also, I think you are doing a very good job at taking the communities feedback and suggestions into account when it comes to civ-balance. In general, I'm fairly happy with the balance of civilizations currently. Communication, Feedback and Beta access First of all, the beta was a big disaster. Too little content was given to the players so they couldn't test things adequately. Moreover, with only multiplayer as a way to play the game (for the majority of the beta) the lack of players deterred (pro) players from playing games. The resetting of the ladder with each update furthermore meant that pro players would face weak a result many pro players (with busy agendas due to ongoing tournaments) did not feel like playing and testing the my experience beta testers were selected poorly. Many participants weren't able to communicate well, had no experience with multiplayer whatsoever or would not bother to investigate bugs/balance and report it. A large portion of the pro and competitive player base as well as many experienced modders/scripters were not invited until the last wave. Feedback was possible on the beta AoE website was relatively new and had many issues to begin with. One frustrating complaint was that there was no way to tell if you successfully signed up for the beta (age insiders). On top of that the forum did not succeed in pulling veteran players away from established platforms such as (the main place to find competitive players and tournament organisers) or several discord channels. The launch of a new discord would mostly pull in new players that were excited to play the game for the first time, that would (re)post funny memes, achievements versus their first AI game or come up with ideas for balancing or new content. Everyone their rights, but it meant competitive players had little interest in become active on this discord where new individuals (who had never even heard of Aoezone, voobly or the zone) had gained moderating powers or community-sage fragmentation of community concerning DE was a real problem. Bug reports would appear on AoeZone, reddit, the AoeDiscord, the official aoe forums, and many other discord response of the developers was often long awaited for and wouldn't reveal much other than 'we are aware of this issue'A major patch dropped out of nowhere which didn't reveal all changes (many changes to maps for example were pushed undocumented). Similarly upon release nobody knew what content would be available. Many (untested) modes such as single player, scenario editor, mod workshop and many scenarios from the campaigns appeared to be buggy and sometimes unusable upon the official game launch. The multiplayer servers soon got overloaded and eventhough many people (including me) were positively surprised by the new features such as command queues, destruction animations and 4 flashy new civs, the product felt not appropriately tested for launch, which tainted how I felt about the game. Bug reports continued (actually, only now many issues started to be reported, the launch of the game can almost be considered a launch of an open beta, open to everyone who pays for the game). Forums exploded, and again the reports of issues got spread over many different ports were still often not properly addressed. Later on we saw a Twitter message from Evan, the community manager where he voiced his opinion on how to be better community members. This topic was taken personal and people showed their dissatisfaction with how developers shared their progress and how people from the team would not handle bug reports appropriately. CONCLUSION: While a lot was promised some crucial things are missing from the community wishes were known before the launch of the game. Diverse other (community) projects had independently investigated what features are crucial. Still, those features were not implemented into Age2DE Voobly brought social aspects such as friend lists, watchlist, profiles and chat in a game lobby. Userpatch brought improved pathing. Added functionality for AI-scripters and MapScripters, and optimizations to reduce lag. Other online multiplayer games (I referenced League of Legends, as that is a game I have played myself) brought a server based matchmaking system that worked well, with a reliably queue, bans, ability to navigate while queueing and good integration on social aspects while queuing with your friends CaptureAge showed how the spectator experience can be enhanced with features such as unlimited zoom, easy toggle between players, total health pool, quick overview of all economy/all military, and display of completed researches. The communication between developers and community was lacking in several aspects. Mainly players felt unheared and not appreciated for trying to help the developers by giving feedback or suggestions. Also we feel powerless when there is no transparancy in what things are being worked on, what things the team is aware of, and how important our feedback and suggestions actually are to the game developers. I know the team is working hard, the community managers might be relatively new to the AoE2 scene, and the programmers might not have the gaming experience. I also know they had to work hard to get the game ready for the release date. I know the priority for the game is single-player since that is what 90% of the customers care for mostly. I know that part of the dev team only got involved recently. I know that it might not be on top of the list of Microsoft to release a good game, let alone to keep everyone happy by improving the multiplayer. But I also know that there are many people who have put countless hours in playing with friends they made via the internet. People they meet regularly at LAN parties, at public tournament viewings. I know that the streaming scene for Age2 has been exploding for the last 3 years. I know that Age2 tournaments are not to be taken lightly. A few people can make a living of playing or casting tournaments, and the game is pretty much setup to become e-sports (which Microsoft seems to support by donating to pricepools). That makes me wonder: How important is the competitive Multiplayer scene of Age2DE to you?

Hi, u/CLO_Junkie, I suggest an educational QA post, or this one if its easy, pinned at the top. This may help with a clearing up and out the common question-answer clusters I've seen in minor threads. Most of those got the answers correct but a few got them extremely wrong. And wrong information can cause more panic. Who am me? Why should I listen to you? edit note- never said I was a grammar teacher, lol I'm an urban Emergency Department trauma/burn nurse with 5 years' EMS prehospital experience prior to going to the dark side of in hospital care. Before the ED, I worked in a large academic hospital in the critical care pulmonology ICU and before that in an open heart/lung transplant IMC. So, I get and got paid to pretend to I know about lung-heart systems, critical care treatments, and medications. And explain all that shit to family members because sometimes (sorry if you're one of them) really otherwise brilliant doctors cannot not communicate outside of medical-ese. On to common questions I've seen. If you have any more, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to update as able. What is a germ? Its been awhile since high school bio... Its a self-replicating thing that makes humans sick once its inside your body. It is most commonly divided into viruses and bacteria. What is a virus, exactly? A virus is a non-living pathogen. Its a single clump of genetic computer code floating around, small enough to be airborne on the breeze or in microscopic sneeze droplets. When in vitro, in a living body, it finds a suitable cell where it will upload itself and start making infinite clones of itself by using that cell's micro-molecular factory machinery. It does so by using RNA or DNA. DNA is a stable, longer-term library storage of genetic code. Its what humans use for their genome. When activated, a specific 'program area' of DNA is translated into RNA. The RNA free-floats out from the cell's control center(nucleus) into the cell's working balloon area (cytoplasm), and then gets fed through a factory machine's blueprint. This machine (organelle) then prints out proteins which clump together into whatever your body wants to make. As long as you have free energy and RNA, these machines will blindly make whatever you ask it to make. The virus makes so many copies of itself the cell literally eventually bursts open to release all the cloned virus copies which repeat the cycle and infect surrounding cells. By the millions. And then what is a bacteria? A bacteria is a living pathogen. It is a single self contained cell that can grow into little cities called colonies. These bacteria-cities create defensive protein shells to protect the community. It grows in vitro, or in a living body, by collecting and using free-floating resources (blood sugar, proteins etc). They can replicate fast and exponentally, 2 can become 4 which becomes 16 etc. A single generation's growth times vary but can be from hours to days. It can make people sick by giving off toxins or overwhelming the immune system. Sorry, but I never really understood why can't we use antibiotics for each? Antibiotics are good at targeting specific areas inside of the bacteria cells. You can think of it like rock-paper-scissor units in a video game (like Civilization or League of Legends). The drugs can target roughly speaking, either the cell walls, the cell's engine areas, or during reproduction. Depending on the type and species of bacteria, we choose different drugs to be more effective. As an aside, drug-resistant bacteria exist. They have build cellular machinery to combat our drugs by neutralizing the medicine compound or doing a work-around of the gummed up cell factories that make energy, structures, etc... MRSA, VRE, and MDR are common names for these critters. MRSA is methacyllin resistant; VRE is vancomycin resistant; MDR is Multi-Drug resistant. But it takes that bacteria that much more energy to specialize in creating that special anti-biotic type of cell machinery so it is quickly killed off or even out-competed by other ordinary bacteria normally. In a sick person, these specialized bacteria have more time to grow into their bacteria-cities with the body's defensive system being knocked down. Viruses lack cell walls, cell engines, and have no ability to reproduce outside of host cells. So we can't stop any of it by any of those means. What does help, then? Antivirals can help with some viruses. They compete with the virus in the host cell to win control over the mini factories that make viruses. They can slow down the spread to give your body a chance to build up its defenses and stem the infection. They don't actually kill viruses themselves once the virus is inside your body. And from intial reports, corona viruses are unaffected by antivirals. Plus the US is in a national drug shortage of antiviral medications. How does my immune system work again? Its pretty complex but in short, it has a literal army of specialized soldier cells. Some do recon and identify invaders and 'radio' back what they find to the immune system. The system then stores that gained knowledge and send out info bulletins for its hunter-killer cells to easily identify invaders. These circulate around and kill any and all viruses and bacteria. If they find a pocket of invaders digging in, they activate an all-in attack signal to gather soldiers from around your body in that specific area. In doing so, they die but new soldiers take their place. Your body can regulate the amount of different types of cells circulating around but it takes time because your bones grow the baby immune cells and put them through boot camp and your spleen then caps off with specialized training into different soldier cell camps (intel, hunter-killer, etc)... So then what is a coronavirus? Like the beer? Yes. Corona means crown in Latin. A corona virus, when scanned by special microscopes, looks like it has a fuzzy crown from bunches of dandilions sticking out of the surface. These are like a cat's whisker. In short, they can (even though its not really alive) bump up against cells and tell what type of cell they are (lung, stomach, heart, etc) to decide if they want to enter into the cell and use its machinery to clone itself. So, lets look at the wikipedia definition quickly and then explain it in English. Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses with a positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome and with a nucleocapsid of helical symmetry. The genomic size of coronaviruses ranges from approximately 26 to 32 kilobases, the largest for an RNA virus. So, translated: Its a data complex virus with a protective shell to hide it while circulating in the blood from the immune system. Once inside a targeted cell body, its RNA directly goes into the factories and reprograms them to make endless copies of itself until the cell explodes, and the cycle repeats until your body is overwhelmed and cannot fight off all the viruses. Other prior coronaviruses (SARS, MERS) have been particularly dangerous to humans with (depending on age category and immune status) a demonstrated 10-50% mortality rate once infected. I thought killing a host off is bad. Yes. Ebola often burns itself out because it kills so fast. HIV has spread because it kills so slow. However, each and every time the RNA makes a copy of itself, it has a non-zero chance for a mutation. Small percentages matter with literally trillions of coin flips. A larger genome, or program code stored in the virus, the higher the chance for errors just like in computer coding. Most times the error is a dead-end waste and so its just discarded in the noise. Sometimes the error is a helpful change that increases the virus' ability to do the virus thing. Like hiding from the immune system, copying itself faster, changing what host cell it likes to attach to, etc... With something new like this corona virus, we just literally don't know what it is capable of doing or turning into. Contagion can be variable with viruses due to incubation time (the time it takes to get infected), shedding time (when your a walking, spewing virus factory) and symptom time (when you actually have a fever, cough, phlegm, etc). The Wuhan strain appears to have a long incubation time with concurrent shedding time and a delayed symptom time. So- you're infected and doomed to get sick before you know it; you spread it around without knowing it; and when it hits you, you've already spread it around your community. That's why an incubation time of 7-10 days with shedding is scary. And with around 300 people being confirmed as an estimated 5% of total infected this means up to 6, 000 infected people are walking around spreading the virus. If there's a R0 of 4, that means an estimated 28, 000 people are potentially infected from these 6, 000. See how it gets out of hand even with quarantining travel? Now, sometimes, if a virus is really contagious, it can infect people faster than it kills off the old victims shedding viruses even though it will kill the prior victims. This is what happened in the 1918 Spanish Flu... what is a zoonotic virus? A virus that orginally was in another species (cow, snake, bat, chicken, monkey, etc) that has crossed over and now has the ability to infect humans. We know a lot about our familiar viruses (hepatitis C, influenza A, etc) but that's from years of meticulous effort into constructing virus models based off of research. Again, we don't know what we don't know. Why would a coronavirus be dangerous to young people? The Wuhan strain, and other, corona virus particularly seeks out and infects lung cells. Like the 1918 Spanish Flu. Specifically, the Wuhan one likes ACE receptors in your lung that regulate blood pressure in real time via a feedback loop with your kidneys. A cytokine reaction is when your immune system gets super excited and pumped up from all the distress signals being activated by hijacked cells. In short, a lot of things cascade at once which causes a huge boost in your immune system's individual attacking cells. Good, usually. But actually, bad in the case of your lungs being infected. Your lungs turn into a battlefield roughly about what Syria looks like now. Pockets of infection spreading rapidly and resisting stubbornly among the shattered debris and rubble. Dead white cells everywhere (this is known as pus). Non-functioning ruins of lung area spreading around that was once a functioning organ. Ironically, the more healthy the immune system the more heightened the response. Between the dead virus parts, the dead immune cells, the panic signaling inflammation, your lungs will fill up with garbage and you drown from the inside out, unable to get oxygen in or carbon dioxide out. In The Great Influenza, first hand medical accounts of cytokine storms have reported people bleeding out from their injured lungs. Um, how do lungs work again, quickly? So think of your lungs like this quickly. Remember the old biology demonstration model of a balloon skin covering a cut 2-liter soda bottle with 2 balloons at the end of a straw? Well, high school was over 19 years ago now so I dunno how they teach it these days. But the mechanics being demonstrated are as follows: Your lungs need a diaphragm to work. Your lungs are in a sealed compartment in your body. The muscle contracts and pulls down (the balloon skin is pulled down on the soda bottle). Physics magic works and the 2 balloon-lungs inflate with air. Inhalation. You snap the diaphragm back into place and the 2 balloon-lungs deflate. Exhalation. Simple enough. So, on the inside your lung cells are in very bubble bath-like foamy structure called alveoli. Why? Surface area. Physics magic again says more surface area, more diffusion of gases. Namely, oxygen in, carbon dioxide out. But these cells' walls are so fragile it takes a constant bath of a special body fluid called surfactant to keep them from collapsing. Surfactant production is important. Its why babies are only viable after so many weeks of gestation- before that, no surfactant so no lungs working. Debris, pus, fluid in the lung lobes destroy the surfactant. If enough of an internal area is affected, that lung lobe (3 on the right, 2 on the left) will collapse on itself like a deflating hot air balloon and it will require chest tubes to be reinflated. We can actively push air into lungs by a ventilator breathing tube but if the gases don't exchange we have a problem. That's when they have a last-ditch machine called ECHMO which is a machine that cleans your blood and buys you rest and recovery time by being an external set of lungs and heart. But this therapy will kill you from fluid accumulation if you stay on it for too long. And why do we need gas exchange again? Your body uses oxygen to make energy. Like rust is a compound of iron and oxygen, your body can create compounds of oxygen. It juggles the oxygen out of the blood into all cells where, in combination with blood sugar as firewood, it is then used to energize special molecules called ATP. These molecules cause your body's cells to work. The waste product is carbon dioxide which floats out into your blood stream to be exhaled off. This ATP is then reused again to keep stuff moving. No ATP, no life. Period. This is aerobic respiration (think air-based) or metabolism. No oxygen, not a big problem. For a time. We can create an alternative energy pathway called anaerobic (think not air-based) metabolism. Its not dangerous and some of us do it daily if we run to the point of lowering our circulating blood oxygen past a certain point. Your body can release strategic stockpiled stored oxygen as reserves but those aren't infinite. Your heart and brain are the only 2 organs that don't have oxygen reserves and need a constant blood flow to them to operate. Your brain can go about 10 minutes unoxygenated before actual damage kicks in. Its why CPR works by moving blood and gases around inside your body. Dumb designed system, I know. Anyways, this alternative pathway can only be used for a short time and has a very inefficient ratio of energy to waste. Plus unlike the air-based metabolism, it has a second nasty waste molecule called hydrogen. The hydrogen is acidic. Meaning it is a bullying element that aggressively grabs atoms from cell machinery molecules without asking. These stripped molecules then don't work right and need replaced or repaired by the body. Additionally, enzymes need a tight temperature and pH range to function. Enzymes are helper-molecules that speed up chemical reactions in the cells so cells can, you know, do stuff. No enzymes means the reactions are slow, like watching paint air dry. With enzymes, its like hot air blow drying the paint. Right, so our body keeps a very tight acid-base balance which is measured as pH. Vinegar and baking soda volcanoes is an example of this balance. The vinegar is an acid, the soda is a base. Combined, they neutralize one another in a kitchen-floor ruining demonstration (sorry, mom). Our blood base is called bicarbonate. It is created by our kidneys. But, if that local alternative energy area is producing more acid than available base can neutralize, both enzymes and cell molecules start malfunctioning and the organ tissue gets even more stressed out. Inevitably, it calls quits by shutting down and dying. How is this different/similar than the annual influenza? That kills thousands a year without any media coverage. The annual flu is dangerous for the elder (>65yo), the young (<7yo) and the immunocompromised. There are dozens of "annual flu" viruses that are constantly mutating when their RNA is copied. We classify them as Flu-A, Flu-B etc... They are dangerous to these populations because in a healthy, young adult cytokines cause an appropriately balanced response over 5-7 days that suppresses the viral recreation and cellular micromachinery being hijacked. You then feel like crap while your body repairs itself. In the elderly, young, and immunocompromised they all have weakened immune systems that can be quickly overwhelmed by an infection from these common flu viruses. The difference is, again, that cytokine storm response. Its a sort of Trojan horse tactic where your body's immune system overwhelmly gives an exaggerated response and so eagerly drowns the victim with all that accumulating debris in the lungs. The stronger the immune system, the quicker your lungs fill up. Both are virsues that act like I've described above (scroll up if you need refreshing). How is this different/similar to the 1918 influenza? The 1918 influenza, commonly known as the Spanish flu, killed more humans by body count than the black plague of the 1300s did. The pneumonic plague (a mutation of the quickly reproducing bacteria that allowed it to go airborne (pneuma, Latin for air) had a higher kill ratio of those once infected for a smaller population size, ~45-50%. Epidemiologists believe the 1918 flu started off in the midwest of the US and was carried over to a national army training camp. From there, it was shipped over to the battlefield trenches of World War I where it spread low-grade among all combatants for several months being spread by, well apocolyptic-like healthcare conditions. The virus mutated an innumerable amount of times, came n went, came and went, until it became one which could cause cytokine storms among young people. Towards the end of the war, Spain (which was a noncombatant and had a free uncensored press) started publishing rumors and news of a new deadly virus. At the end of the war, returning troops were packed onto densely populated ships to be repatriated. After being exposed for almost a week of perfect infection conditions, all disembarked to spread it to their individual cities and communities. Initially, factually, in the US federal and local governmental responses were slow and censored news for a combination of reasons. No-one knew what was going on at first until local hospitals were overwhelmed and then dots were connected. They asked for help which was slow in coming but also, honestly, there was nothing to do but help support the sick as best as possible through the crisis period. Huge warehouses with beds were set up to care for the infected until they died or got better. And even through that it was mostly up to family to care for these sick with healthcare worker resources broken. Corpse disposals ended up being a huge grim need outstripping service supply. What can I do to protect myself and family? Well. Based off prior epidemics a lucky few will be immune or get sick and recover and be immune. But don't bet on that. From what I've read, running away from major cities is a mixed bag. Worked better in earlier stages of civilization when travel was slower, communities farther apart, and humans were more self-sufficient. For example, the Athens plague of 430 was fine if you staying isolated on your subsistence farm in the country during the incubation, shedding and clinical periods. But in 1600 black plague England, running from London to escape into the country was a worse idea than staying put in a well stocked house. You were exposed to the elements without resources (Food/water/shelter) and inevitably ran into someone who was sick. Some outlying communities self-quarantined and forced anyone they didn't know to stay away at town militia gunpoint. The best situated of all those in England to sit tight while everything burned down around them were the commercial sailing ships out in the harbor. Isolated from carriers, surrounded by a safe distance of water, constantly moving air in a light breeze, lots of UV light, and salted humid air. Of course, once it passed they still had to choose to go ashore and possibly be infected from remnants or go elsewhere. In 1918 and 1300 oncoming winter weather helped slowed transmission some but then it flared up once warmer weather occurred. The best thing to do I think is honestly prepare to stay in your house isolated for 2-4 weeks (or whatever the total exposure-infected-cleared time is with your local area getting) with a disrupted supply chain and electrical grid. Food for humans/pets, electrolytes and water, alternative cooking heat supplies, true HEPA filter air purifiers, spritz bleach sprays, non-electronic entertainment, supportive over the counter medicine (anti-fever, anti-vomiting, etc)... Maybe cloth curtains to keep air exchange limited between indoor/outdoors and bedrooms and floors. Any first-hand accounts of similar stuff in the past? I'd recommend reading "A Journal of the Plague Year, " by Daniel Defoe and "1918: The Great Influenza" by John Barry for primary perspectives of those living in a society disrupted by infectious death. Alright, anyone have any questions? Anyone read this far? Well, hope you had fun reading because this was fun for me to type out. I like explaining the ins and outs of what I do. EDIT: changed "who am me" to -> "why should you listen to me? ".

For all the blinded Disney fanboys that are where's mushu? This isn't like the original what are you doing to my childhood? Let me remind you all that they are making a reboot of Mulan, not a remake of the animated one. This story is closer to the original (Ballad of Mulan. If you don't want your childhood ruined, just don't watch it. Another interesting thing to note: the emperor's PA or whatever is called Qi Fu, which literally translates to Bully. 0:37 Screw these things. What matters most is that my daughter is home. This article is about the animated film. For the character, see Fa Mulan. For the 2020 live-action film, see Mulan (2020 film). Mulan is a 1998 animated feature film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation, and released by Walt Disney Pictures on June 19, 1998. The thirty-sixth animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon and the ninth film in the Disney Renaissance, the film is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, and was the first of three produced primarily at the animation studio at Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook, with the story by Robert D. San Souci and Rita Hsiao, among others. While the film today is very popular among the millennial generation, many of which praise it for being the most progressive Disney Princess film, the film did only modestly well at the box office; its success did not quite reach the standards of previous Disney Renaissance movies, such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. Plot The Huns, led by the ruthless Shan Yu, invade China, breaching the Great Wall via grappling hooks. This prompts a panicked soldier to light the sentry fires. As a result of the invasion, each family is given a conscription notice. On the same day Fa Mulan 's meeting with the local matchmaker goes awry, her father, Fa Zhou, is ordered to serve in the army. Due to his age and previous war injuries, however, it is unlikely he will survive. Against her family's wishes, Mulan secretly disguises herself as a man, then takes her father's conscription notice, armor, and weapons so that he will not have to go. She rides away on her horse, Khan, to join the army, knowing that if she gets caught she will be killed, as women are strictly forbidden from joining on pain of death. Mushu, a small Chinese dragon, has been awakened by the family's First Ancestor. Mushu had been demoted to gong ringer after a mishap with one of the ancestors from the last time they were awakened. After various choices of which guardian to send after Mulan, he is asked to awaken the " Great Stone Dragon ". Mushu accidentally destroys the Dragon but realizes that this could be an opportunity to earn his place among the guardians again if he can make Mulan a war hero. Cri-Kee joins him in this task. In the meantime, Shan Yu and the Huns pillage a city on the way to the Imperial Palace. Leaving the wreckage, they locate two spies. Shan Yu asks them to send a message to the Emperor telling him that the Huns are coming and are ready to engage the Imperial armies. However, as they leave, Shan Yu orders his archer to murder one. Despite bad advice from Mushu leading to a rocky start at the training camp, Mulan (under the alias "Ping") trains with a group led by Captain Li Shang, including fellow soldiers Ling, Yao, and Chien Po, and slowly earns their respect and trust. At some point during this, Shan Yu's falcon, Hayabusa, uncovers a doll from a mountain village, revealing that the Imperial army is waiting for them. One of the Elite Hun Soldiers claims that it will be easy to avoid the ambush, but Shan Yu insists they proceed through the mountains, remarking they should "return" the doll to its rightful owner. Soon after this event, the troops complete their training, but Chi Fu, the Emperor's meddling and misogynistic advisor, refuses to let them see battle, accusing the troops of being ill-prepared. Mushu forges a letter from the General, ordering Shang to take his men to battle. The troops set out to meet General Li, who has already left on a mission. However, Shang and his troops tragically discover that his father, the general and his men were killed in battle against Shan Yu. As they leave, Mulan finds the doll Shan Yu found and places it in front of the General's grave marker. Shang and his troops continue, disheartened by their loss, when they are ambushed by Hun archers due to a misfired cannon. After an initial attack, the Huns are believed to be defeated, but the troops soon discover otherwise, and Shan Yu orders a massive cavalry charge to finish off the remaining men. While the rest of the troops set up the last cannon to fire at Shan Yu to cut the head off the snake, Mulan spots a precarious mound of snow on the upper mountainside. During the charge, Mulan snatches the cannon and fires the rocket at the snow mound on the mountainside. It hits the mound near the summit and triggers a large avalanche, spreading all over and swallowing the now fleeing Huns, including Shan-Yu, burying them. Shang's soldiers take refuge while Mulan rescues Shang from being swept away by the snow and falling off a cliff. The Chinese soldiers initially cheer for their victory, but quickly become somber after Mulan discovers that she is bleeding; she had been wounded by a swipe of Shan Yu's sword before the avalanche buried Shan Yu and his army. Shang quickly summons a doctor just as Mulan faints. During treatment, Mulan's true identity is discovered. Shang is notified and is expected to execute Mulan. Instead, he spares her life (she having saved his own life during the avalanche), and promptly expels her from the army. Shang and his troops promptly continue their path to the capital, leaving Mulan behind. Mulan decides to return home, but spots the Huns emerging from the snow from the avalanche. She tries to warn Shang's troops as they are heralded by citizens in a parade for their war efforts, but they do not listen. As the Emperor ( Pat Morita) addresses the crowd, the Huns, disguised as parade characters, kidnap him and barricade themselves inside the palace. Shang and his troops try to follow the Huns into the palace but are unsuccessful. Mulan devises a ploy with the other soldiers to dress as concubines, scale one of the palace walls and infiltrate the palace. When the Huns lower their defenses in the presence of the "women", Mulan and her allies swiftly dispatch them all. During this attack, Shan Yu demands the Emperor bow before him, but the Emperor calmly rebuffs him. Before Shan Yu can kill the Emperor, Shang intervenes and the Emperor is safely removed from the palace by Chien Po. Unfortunately, Shang and Mulan are now trapped on the balcony with Shan Yu. Shan Yu is about to kill Shang when Mulan gets his attention with her shoe. He recognizes her from the mountain battle and gives chase. Mulan lures him onto the palace rooftop where they face each other in personal combat, until Mushu, as arranged by Mulan, launches a huge firecracker that hits Shan Yu and carries him off to his death. The fate of the remaining five Hun warriors is never fully disclosed. The Emperor meets Mulan and, in an accusatory tone, lists Mulan's crimes, but nevertheless pardons her for saving China and himself. The Emperor then bows to Mulan, which is considered an extremely high honor as it implies being of a higher status than the Emperor, while the hundreds of observers kow-tow (an Eastern bowing position with one's face and palms to the floor). The Emperor then offers Mulan a position among his staff (even offering to have her replace Chi-Fu). Though certainly flattered by the offer, Mulan politely declines it, explaining that she'd rather go back home to her family. The Emperor accepts this, and he gives her Shan Yu 's sword, along with his crest, for her to bring home and give honor to her family. Upon her return, Mulan expects to be reprimanded but is instead embraced by her family. Shang arrives to talk with Mulan, having been encouraged to tell her his feelings for her by the Emperor. The ancestors reluctantly agree to make Mushu a guardian once more and celebration ensues. Production Development for Mulan began in 1994, after the production team sent a select group of artistic supervisors to China for three weeks to take photographs and drawings of local landmarks for inspiration; and to soak up local culture The filmmakers decided to change Mulan's character to make her more appealing and selfless and turn the art style closer to Chinese painting, with watercolor and simpler design - opposed to the details of The Lion King and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. To create 2, 000 Hun soldiers during the Huns' attack sequence, the production team developed a crowd simulation software called Attila. This software allows thousands of unique characters to move autonomously. A variant of the program called Dynasty was used in the final battle sequence to create a crowd of 3, 000 in the Forbidden City. Pixar 's photorealistic RenderMan was used to render the crowd. Another software developed for this movie was Faux Plane which was used to add depth to flat two-dimensional painting. Although developed late in production progress, Faux Plane was used in five shots, including the dramatic sequence which features the Great Wall of China, and the final battle sequence when Mulan runs to the Forbidden City. During the scene in which the Chinese are bowing to Mulan, the crowd is a panoramic film of real people bowing. It was edited into the animated foreground of the scene. Cast From left to right: Cri-Kee, Mushu, Fa Mulan, Kahn. Ming-Na Wen as Fa Mulan (singing voice provided by Lea Salonga), the principal protagonist, based on Hua Mulan. She disguises herself as a man and joins the Chinese Imperial Army in her father's place. Instead of being punished for doing so, she ends up a war hero. Kelly Chen and Coco Lee voiced Mulan in the Cantonese and Taiwanese Mandarin dubs of the film respectively, while Xu Qing and Ye Bei were the speaking and singing voices respectively in the Standard Mandarin version. Eddie Murphy as Mushu, a dragon and one of the Fa family's guardian spirits, previously demoted after misguiding one of the Fa family ancestors. He serves as the film's deuteragonist. He is reinstated as a guardian after successfully aiding Mulan in her efforts in the army. Eric Kot, Jacky Wu, and Chen Peisi provided the voice of Mushu in the Cantonese, Taiwanese Mandarin, and Standard Mandarin versions, respectively. BD Wong as Captain Li Shang (singing voice provided by Donny Osmond), the son of General Li and the officer in charge of training the Imperial Army's new recruits. He is the tritagonist of the film. Jackie Chan provided the speaking and singing voice of Li Shang in all three Chinese versions. Miguel Ferrer as Shan Yu, the film's chief antagonist and the head of the Hun army who attempts to conquer the Chinese Empire. Harvey Fierstein as Yao, a short but tough Imperial Army recruit who was initially antagonistic towards but later befriends Mulan. Known for the fact that his left eye is constantly swollen shut. Despite this supposed handicap, he exhibits great proficiency with range weapons; namely the bow and the rocket. Gedde Watanabe as Ling (singing voice provided by Matthew Wilder), a lanky Imperial Army recruit who befriends Mulan. Initially seen as a weakling, he later develops the capacity to deliver a hard and painful headbutt through Li Shang's training. Jerry Tondo as Chien-Po, a huge, rotund, good-natured, and inhumanly strong Imperial Army recruit who befriends Mulan. He appears to be one of the few who could appease Yao; mainly by the means of calming him down by holding him up and telling him to chant with him. James Hong as Chi-Fu, a misogynistic member of the Emperor's council and advisor to Li Shang who refuses to allow the recruits to join the battle against the Huns. Soon-Tek Oh as Fa Zhou, Mulan's father and a renowned war veteran. June Foray as Grandmother Fa (singing voice provided by Marni Nixon), the grandmother of Mulan, who is encouraging her to find a husband. Pat Morita as the Emperor of China, the target of a Hun kidnapping who commends Mulan after saving him and the Chinese Empire. Wise and decisive, he stated that "a single grain of rice can tip the scale; one man may be the difference between victory and defeat. " Ironically, he was saved by a woman at the near end of the first film. George Takei as First Ancestor Fa, the head of the Fa family ancestors. Freda Foh Shen as Fa Li, Mulan's mother, who looks strikingly like her except that Fa Li has a different hairstyle and is chubbier than Mulan. James Shigeta as General Li, Li Shang's father who was killed in a battle against the Hun army. Miriam Margolyes as the Matchmaker, who attempts to find Mulan a husband at the start of the film. Frank Welker as Khan, Mulan's horse; and Cri-Kee, a cricket given to Mulan as a good luck charm. Considering all he survives, he certainly seems to be lucky. Stephen Wong described the visuals as "stunning, " Kyle Suggs described the visuals as "breathtaking, " and Dan Jardine described the visuals as "magnificently animated. " Many praise the movie for attempting something new. Fa Mulan is unlike a traditional Disney heroine, suggesting that she is independent and brave; without being overtly glamorous. Film critic Roger Ebert gave Mulan three and a half stars out of four in his written review. He said that " Mulan is an impressive achievement, with a story and treatment ranking with Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King ". A negative review described it as a "disappointment. " The songs are accused of not being memorable, and slowing down the pace of the movie. Some reviewers suggest that the film is "soulless" in its portrayal of Asian society. This movie was also the subject of comment from feminist critics. Mimi Nguyen says the film "pokes fun at the ultimately repressive gender roles that seek to make Mulan a domesticated creature. " Nadya Labi agrees, saying "there is a lyric in the film that gives the lie to the bravado of the entire girl-power movement. " She pointed out that she needed to become a boy to do it. Kathleen Karlyn, an assistant professor of English at the University of Oregon, criticizes it suggesting "In order to even imagine female heroism, we're placing it in the realm of fantasy". Pam Coats, producer of Mulan, aimed to produce a character that exhibits both masculine and feminine influences, being both physically and mentally strong. Box office performance Mulan's opening weekend box office figures were $22. 8 million, placing it as the second highest grossing movie that week to The X-Files. It went on to make $120 million domestically and $304 million worldwide, placing it the second highest family film of the year, behind A Bug's Life, and the 7th highest of the year overall. However, these figures were criticized as being a significant decrease from former Disney films, and this was considered a sign of the decreasing popularity of cartoon animation. Top international releases include the United Kingdom ($14. 6 million) and France ($10. 2 million). Awards Mulan won many Annie Awards. The film itself won the award for Best Animated Theatrical Feature. Individual achievement awards were awarded to Pam Coats for producing; Barry Cook and Tony Bancroft for Directing; Rita Hsiao, Christopher Sanders, Philip LaZebnick, Raymond Singer, and Eugenia Bostwick-Singer in Writing; Chris Sanders for Storyboarding; Hans Bacher for Production Design; David Tidgwell for Effects Animation; Ming-Na Wen for Voice Acting for Mulan; Matthew Wilder, David Zippel, and Jerry Goldsmith for music and Ruben A. Aquino for Character Animation. Tom Bancroft and Mark Henn were also nominated for Character Animation. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for Original Music Score in 1998, but was beaten by Stephen Warbeck's score for Shakespeare in Love. The music score also received significant praise. Jerry Goldsmith won the 1999 BMI Film Music Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score in 1998. Wilder and Zippel were also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song the same year for " Reflection ". They were beaten by The Truman Show and " The Prayer " from Quest for Camelot respectively. Reception in China Disney was keen to promote Mulan to the Chinese, hoping they might replicate their success with their 1994 film The Lion King, which was one of the country's highest-grossing Western films at that time. Disney also hoped it might smooth over relations with the Chinese government which had soured after the release of Kundun, a Disney-funded biography of the Dalai Lama that the Chinese government considered politically provocative. China had threatened to curtail business negotiations with Disney over that film and, as the government only accepts 10 Western films per year to be shown in their country, Mulan 's chances of being accepted were low. Finally, after a year's delay, the Chinese government did allow the film a limited Chinese release, but only after the Chinese New Year, so as to ensure that local films dominated the more lucrative holiday market. Chinese culture in Mulan The Legend of Hua Mulan The Chinese legend of Hua Mulan centers on a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take the place of her elderly father in the army. The story can be traced back to The Ballad of Mulan. The earliest accounts of the legend state that she lived during the Northern Wei dynasty (386–534). However another version reports that Mulan was requested as a concubine by Emperor Yang of Sui China (reigned 604–617). The film may take place even later, as it prominently features landmarks such as the Forbidden City which was not constructed until the 15th Century. On the other hand, at the time of Northern Wei, the Xiongnu (Huns) had been already absorbed into Chinese culture. However, according to the style of dress (traditional Han clothing), the film takes place sometime in the 15th century or before. The fireworks featured in the movie indicate that the movie is set during the Sui dynasty. Although Mulan is set in north China, where the dominant language is Mandarin, the Disney film uses the Cantonese pronunciation, "Fa", of her family name. In Mandarin her name is pronounced "Hua". Disney's Mulan casts the title character in much the same way as the original legend, a tomboy daughter of a respected veteran, somewhat troubled by being the "sophisticated lady" her society expects her to be after failing the matchmaker's training, dishonoring Mulan's family. In the original Mulan legend, Mulan uses her father's name Li and not the name "Ping" and she was never discovered as a girl, unlike the film. Also in the original legend, Mulan went to war for her father, because her father was getting too old to fight, and had no sons to take his place. However, in the film, it was added that her father's leg was injured. Language The script used for most of the text in Mulan is Traditional Chinese, which is no longer used in daily life on Mainland China (but still used in Hong Kong, Macau, and many overseas Chinese communities), although people are still able to read it. The traditional name for the leaders of the Central Asian Huns was Shanyu. The war between the Huns and China was real, called the Sino-Xiongnu War. When Mulan masquerades as a man, her name is a pun in Chinese. Her first name is "Ping" (瓶), meaning pot, and her surname (placed first using Chinese naming conventions) means Flower (花). Together they make "Flowerpot", a Chinese term meaning an effeminate man. According to Orpheus in Mayfair and Other Stories and Sketches by Maurice Baring, "Ping" in Chinese means soldier-man, and if you wish to express your contempt for a man there is no word in the whole of the Chinese language which expresses it so fully and so emphatically as the word Ping. Chi-Fu's name literally means "to bully" in Chinese. Trivia When Ling loses his teeth after getting punched in the face, you see him later with all of his teeth back. During the trek to the pass and during the battle, the number of soldiers increases and decreases multiple times. Mulan was the first movie created outside L. A., California, created by Disney's Studio in Florida. Mulan was almost a PG movie but went by different standards to get G. If it had been rated PG, it would have been the second Disney movie to be rated this after The Black Cauldron and the first Disney Princess movie to be rated PG. During the avalanche, Mulan's helmet gets blown off and Shang's horse disappears but are both seen later in the film. It took five years to make Mulan. The movie was almost a short movie titled China Doll until Robert D. San Souci came along. Mulan was originally supposed to be betrothed to a wealthy man but this was changed so that it would not seem she was joining the army for selfish reasons. When the troops discover that the Huns destroyed a village in the Tung Shao Pass, numerous dead bodies of soldiers can be seen, making Mulan the only Disney movie that shows numerous dead bodies. Mulan awards, by far, the Disney highest 'on screen' body count since the avalanche implies the death of thousands of Huns, leaving only a few survivors. The original theatrical release poster for Mulan makes a cameo in Nani 's bedroom in Lilo & Stitch. Lea Salonga, who sings as Mulan, sang as Jasmine. There was supposed to be a Mulan 3 released in 2006, but it was canceled. Mulan was supposed to appear as a young child in the original script of the film, but this was deleted because animators felt people would think she just wanted to be a soldier since it was a childhood interest, rather than to save her father. Mulan is played by Ming-Na Wen who also plays Agent Melinda May in Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D. Origins The original story of Mulan was based on the fifth century Chinese poem the Ballad of Mulan. The original poem was originally a short fable, designed to show gender equality, but in the following centuries it was developed until Hua Mulan became a legendary figure. As little contemporary evidence exists other than the poem, it is unknown whether she was a real or fictional figure. Allusions Mushu calls Mulan Sleeping Beauty when he wakes her up. Gallery Music Mulan features a score by Jerry Goldsmith and five songs by Matthew Wilder (music) and David Zippel (lyrics), with a sixth originally planned for Mushu, but dropped following Eddie Murphy's involvement with the character. The movie's soundtrack is credited for starting the career of pop princess Christina Aguilera, whose first song to be released in the U. S. was her rendition of " Reflection ", the first single from the Mulan soundtrack. The song, and Aguilera's vocals, were so well received that it landed her a recording contract with RCA records. In 1999, she would go on to release her self-titled debut album, on which "Reflection" was also included. As well as her own, the pop version of "Reflection" has two Spanish translations, because the movie has separate Spanish translations for Spain (performed by Malú) and Latin America (performed by Lucero). Other international versions include a Brazilian Portuguese version by Sandy & Junior ("Imagem") and a Mandarin version by Coco Lee. Lea Salonga, the singing voice of Mulan in the movie, is also the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin. The music featured during the haircut scene, often referred as the Mulan Decision score, is different in the soundtrack album. The soundtrack album uses an orchestrated score while the movie uses heavy synthesizer music. The synthesizer version is available on limited edition CD. Salonga, who enjoys singing movie music in her concerts, has done a Disney medley which climaxes with an expanded version of 'Reflection' (not the same as those in Aguilera's version). Salonga also provided the singing voice for Mulan in the movie's sequel, Mulan II. The song " I'll Make a Man Out of You " was performed by Donny Osmond, who commented that his children decided that he had finally "made it" in show business when he was in a Disney film. On Classic Disney: 60 Years of Musical Magic, this includes " I'll Make a Man Out of You " on the orange disc. And on Disney's Greatest Hits, this also includes " Reflection " on the blue disc, and " I'll Make a Man Out of You " on the green disc. Stephen Schwartz, lyricist and composer of Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame was originally hired to write and compose songs for the film, but these were not used due to his decision to continue with his work on the DreamWorks film The Prince of Egypt. Despite this, one of these songs, "Written in Stone, " was later used for the children's theatre production Mulan Jr. [1] References in Other Media References to Mulan in Disney Media Mushu in the game Kingdom Hearts. When Mulan sings "Reflection", in her father's shrine, her reflection appears in the polished surface of the temple stones. The writing on the stones is the names of the Disney animators who worked on the film written in ancient Chinese. In the scene where Mushu awakens the ancestors, one set of grandparents worry that Mulan's quest will ensure her family loses their farm. This couple appears to be the couple on the farm in Grant Wood's famous painting American Gothic. There are a number of Hidden Mickeys in this film, including the spots on Shang's horse's neck and rump and in the training sequences, the first time the soldiers use their rockets. Although she is technically not a princess, Mulan is an official member of the Disney Princess franchise. More often than not, Mulan is the subject of internet debates over whether she is a "real princess" or not, but her inclusion in Disney's official line-up leaves little question to the matter. In the film Lilo & Stitch, Nani has a poster of Mulan in her room. Mulan is present in the Disney and Square Enix video game series Kingdom Hearts. In the first Kingdom Hearts game and in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Mushu is a summonable character, and in Kingdom Hearts II, the movie is featured as a playable world named "The Land of Dragons", with the plot being changed to accommodate the game's protagonists ( Sora, Donald, and Goofy) and Mulan (and Ping) able to join the player's party as a skilled sword fighter. In the title's manga adaptation, the character skirts the fourth wall to reference his absence in previous installments, an acknowledgement of the fact that Mushu did not appear in the Kingdom Hearts or Chain of Memories manga titles due to only being a summoned character. In Tarzan, when the apes are jiggling Professor Porter, the things that fall out of his pockets include a plush doll of Little Brother. References to Mulan in popular culture The British sitcom Spaced referenced Mulan in the second episode of the second series. In the show, characters are frequently hard-pressed to draw a line between fantasy and reality, and in this scene the character Daisy recalls Mulan as someone she has met "when she was traveling" until another character reminds her it was 'a Disney film'. Daisy also sings a very badly-remembered line of 'Reflection'. In the television show Firefly, Shepherd Book mentions a Chinese warlord named Shan Yu who purportedly believed you could only truly know a man by torturing him. Comedian Margaret Cho referred to a fish and rice diet a tabloid (falsely) reported her adhering to as being "so Mulan, " in that it was based on the stereotypes of her ethnic background. In the Ugly Betty season one episode "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", Mulan is referenced when Betty is quizzing Marc on his knowledge of her to fool his mother into thinking they are dating. However, he does not know much, as is evidenced when the question is about her favorite princess, and Marc guesses Mulan. Henry, on the other hand, knows it is Cinderella. In the episode of Family Guy titled "Love Thy Trophy", Stewie is taken from the Griffin family and placed in the foster care of a couple who has adopted many children of different racial backgrounds (Chinese, Indian, African, Inuit, etc. ). Stewie turns them all against each other by letting them know of the conflicts between their homelands and then by getting them to argue the ethnicity of Santa Claus. During the argument, one child tells his adopted Chinese sister to "Go back to your rice paddy, Mulan! So many queens on one stage. I was blown away by this performance and I love that they added all the other languages from around the world too. Each woman looked absolutely stunning and their live vocals were just beautiful to hear solo and all together. I love how Disney can bring people from around the world together. That's where the true magic is created. Oh and how can I forget Aurora's voice is so angelic, hearing her in the beginning brought me to tears. In the ballad, Hua Mulan, disguised as a man, takes her aged father's place in the army. Mulan fought for twelve years and gained high merit, but she refused any reward and retired to her hometown. The historic setting of Hua Mulan is in the Northern Wei. Over a thousand years later, Xu Wei 's play from the Ming dynasty places her in the Northern Wei, whereas the Qing dynasty Sui Tang Romance has her active around the founding of the Tang c. 620. In 621, the founder of the Tang dynasty emerged victorious over Wang Shichong and Dou Jiande. The latter sired Dou Xianniang, another female warrior who became Mulan's laotong in the Sui Tang Romance. [1] The Hua Mulan crater on Venus is named after her. [2] [3] ==History== (not confirmed t be true) Painting of Hua Mulan, 18th century, housed in the British Museum The Ballad of Mulan was first transcribed in the Musical Records of Old and New ( Chinese: 古今樂錄; pinyin: Gǔjīn Yuèlù) in the 6th century. The earliest extant text of the poem comes from an 11th- or 12th-century anthology known as the Music Bureau Collection ( Chinese: 樂府詩; pinyin: Yuèfǔshī). Its author, Guo Maoqian, explicitly mentions the Musical Records of Old and New as his source for the poem. As a ballad, the lines do not necessarily have equal numbers of syllables. The poem consists of 31 couplets, and is mostly composed of five-character phrases, with a few extending to seven or nine. In the late Ming, playwright Xu Wei (d. 1593) dramatized the tale as "The Female Mulan" ( 雌木蘭 or, more fully, "The Heroine Mulan Goes to War in Her Father's Place" ( Chinese: 雌木蘭替父從軍; pinyin: Cí-Mùlán Tì Fù Cóngjūn), in two acts. Later, the character of Mulan was incorporated into the Sui-Tang Romance  [ zh], a historical novel written by Chu Renhuo  [ zh] in the 17th century, early in the Qing dynasty. [4] [5] Over time, the story of Hua Mulan rose in popularity as a folk tale among the Chinese people on the same level as the Butterfly Lovers. [ citation needed] Name [ edit] In Chinese, mùlán refers to the magnolia. The heroine of the poem is given different family names in different versions of her story. According to History of Ming, her family name is Zhu (朱), while the History of Qing says it is Wei (魏). The family name Hua ( 花; Huā; 'flower'), which was introduced by Xu Wei, [6] has become the most popular in recent years in part because of its more poetic meaning. Historicity [ edit] The story of Hua Mulan is treated more as a legend than a historical person, and her name does not appear in Exemplary Women which is a compilation of biographies of women during the Northern Wei dynasty. [7] Her legend is, however, included in Yan Xiyuan's One Hundred Beauties which is a compilation of various women in Chinese folklore. Plot [ edit] Statue of Mulan being welcomed home, in the city of Xinxiang, China. The Ballad of Hua Mulan is set in the Northern Wei era (386–536). The poem starts with Mulan sitting worriedly at her loom, as one male from each family is called to serve in the army to defend the Tuoba realm from Rouran invaders. Her father is old and weak, and her younger brother is just a child, so she decides to take his place and bids farewell to her parents, who support her. She is already skilled in fighting, having been taught martial arts, sword fighting, and archery by the time she enlists in the army. After twelve years of fighting, the army returns and the warriors are rewarded. Mulan turns down an official post, and asks only for a camel to carry her home. She is greeted with joy by her family. Mulan dons her old clothes and meets her comrades, who are shocked that in the 12 years of their enlistment together, they did not realize that she was a woman. [8] Sui Tang Romance [ edit] Chu Renhuo's Romance of the Sui and Tang (c. 1675; first edition 1695) provides additional backdrops and plot-twists. [4] Chu placed Mulan under the rule of Heshana Khan (603–619) of the Western Turkic Khaganate. When the Khan agrees to wage war in alliance with the emergent Tang dynasty, which was poised to conquer all of China, Mulan's father Hua Hu ( Chinese: 花弧) fears he will be conscripted into military service since he only has two daughters and an infant son. Mulan dresses as a man and enlists in her father's stead. She is intercepted by the forces of the Xia king Dou Jiande (573–621) and is brought under questioning by the king's warrior daughter Xianniang ( Chinese: 線娘), who tries to recruit Mulan as a man. Discovering Mulan to be a fellow female warrior, she is so delighted that they become sworn sisters. [5] [9] In the Sui Tang Romance, Mulan comes to a tragic end, which "differs from the endings of most of the Hua Mulan legends. " [5] Xianniang's father is vanquished after siding with the enemy of the Tang dynasty, and the two sworn sisters, with knives in their mouths, surrender themselves to be executed in the place of the condemned man. The act of filial piety wins reprieve from Emperor Taizong of Tang and the imperial consort who was birth-mother to the Emperor bestows money to Mulan to provide for her parents and wedding funds for the princess who confessed to having promised herself to general Luó Chéng  [ zh] ( Chinese: 羅成). [10] (In reality, Dou Jiande was executed, but in the novel he lives on as a monk. ) Mulan is given leave to journey back to her homeland, and once arrangements were made for Mulan's parents to relocate, it is expected that they will all be living in the princess's old capital of Leshou ( Chinese: 樂壽, modern Xian County, Hebei). Mulan is devastated to discover her father has long died and her mother has remarried. According to the novel, Mulan's mother was surnamed Yuan (袁) and remarried a man named Wei (魏). Even worse, the Khan has summoned her to the palace to become his concubine. Rather than suffer this fate, she commits suicide. But before she dies, she entrusts an errand to her younger sister, Youlan ( Chinese: 又蘭), which was to deliver Xianniang's letter to her fiancé, Luó Chéng. This younger sister dresses as a man to make her delivery, but her disguise is discovered, and it arouses her recipient's amorous attention. [11] In the novel, Mulan's father was from Hebei during the Northern Wei dynasty while her mother was from the Central Plain of China. [12] But "even a Chinese woman would prefer death by her own hand to serving a foreign ruler, " as some commentators have explained this Mulan character's motive for committing suicide. [13] Mulan's words before she committed suicide were, "I'm a girl, I have been through war and have done enough. I now want to be with my father. [19] The Legend of Mu Lan: A Heroine of Ancient China [20] was the first English language picture book featuring the character Mulan published in the United States in 1992 by Victory Press. In the fantasy/alternate history novel Throne of Jade (2006), China's aerial corps is described as being composed of all female captains and their dragons due to the precedent set by the legendary woman warrior. Cameron Dokey created 'Wild Orchid' in 2009, a retelling of the Ballad of Mulan as part of the Once Upon A Time series of novels published by Simon Pulse, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. In the comic, Deadpool Killustrated (2013), Hua Mulan, along with Natty Bumppo, and Beowulf are brought together by Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (using H. G. Please let it be good. ITS AN AMAZING NOVEL I LOVE THE AUDIOBOOK BUT THIS JUST SCREAMS POLITICALLY CORRECT MEGA FEMINISM. That was a Marxist struggling to make Marxism real and realizing that it can't be realized (and not entirely because of the capitalist society within which it would have to birth itself) but refusing to accept it and playing it off as confusion and curiosity. I am someone who sees eye to eye with the Marxist principles but her answering that question like she really didn't have the answers as to why she participates in publishing and profit making in the way she does when it is clear that capitalism reaps her benefits while exploiting workers and the arts itself and walking away from it, as Marxist as that act would be leads you into a void that doesn't exist away from society but from employment seemed like such a schemy pretence of ignorance.

What a ride! This marked my 20th trip to Disneyland, the first being in the late 80s when I was 5 years old. For some, this will seem like an enormous amount of trips to Mouse House, and for many of you die hard fans (especially those who live in CA), it is but a drop in the bucket. For me, Disneyland feels like an old friend that you don't get to see often but when you do, you pick up right where you left off without skipping a beat. In some ways, like me, she's starting to show her age in places but clearly still has a lot of life left in her. The biggest change since I was last there a couple of years ago, obviously, is Galaxy's Edge. I was absurdly excited to meet and experience this new land! I am a big fan of Star Wars, and so I was very excited to see how Disney pulled from the movies, canon (and fans' minds eyes) to create an alien land on Earth. In my opinion, they did a fantastic job. What struck me the most, perhaps because I'd not seen anyone else write about it before, is how the atmosphere/feel of Galaxy's Edge immediately sheds the fun/vibrant feel of Disneyland and replaces it with an eery, ominous vibe - a feeling that you're being watched, that you're not entirely safe, and that mayhem could break out at any moment. They achieve this feel through expert combination of white noise and otherworldly sounds and reverberations, and great cast interaction. Galaxy's Edge is markedly quieter than other parts of Disneyland, with low hums and hisses being piped through the speakers and occasional sounds of rustling creatures and chirping droids. The cast is always watching over their shoulders for the frequent and invasive overlording by Stormtroopers and other First Order evil doers. You may have noticed in YouTube videos, but what is even more impressive in person is the height of the Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren. The troopers are easily 6'4-6'5 and Kylo Ren appears to be pushing 7' tall. They are very imposing figures. The troopers are always in character, and very interactive. I won't go into a lot of detail about the rides, as I don't have anything new or insightful to add to other reports already posted here and what you can see on YouTube. Overall, my impression of Smugglers Run is that it was a perfectly fun 3D-type ride where the vehicle remains stationary, but tilts up, down, left, right and side to side depending on what you see on screen. Kids seemed to like the ride because they get to hit buttons and switches that make you feel like you're controlling the ship. The graphics are first-rate and the storyline is fun. But at the end of the day, for me, it's a one and done ride. It will not be at the top of my list for any future visits, but if the wait time is low and I have time to kill, I'd hop on it again. For me the best part of the ride was the queue! Getting to be inside a spot-on recreation Millennium Falcon was so much fun, and made for great pictures. Rise of the Resistance was incredible. The scale of the ride alone is WOW! The stage is ENORMOUS and the level of detail they put into the ride was mind blowing. This ride is a must-do for anyone, fan of Star Wars or not! The rest of the land is made up of shops, two of which are worthy of note - Droid Depo and Savi's Workshop, where you can build a BB-8/R2D2 and custom lightsaber, respectively. Very fun experiences. As far as food goes, they have theme-specific bites that may not be to everyone's tastes. I found that the basic ingredients are good tasting and good quality but the effort to make them "alien" by adding too much heavy sauce was a bit overkill. Some other Galaxy's Edge negatives for me: all directions/signage are in Batuuese which I am unable to read, and that left me lost and asking for directions. NOTE: there is a Data Pad app you can download on your phone that apparently will translate for you, but I was not aware of this in advance, so plan ahead. Other general thoughts this trip: As other long-time visitors have expressed, the quality of staff is going downhill. I used to consider Disney staff the standard-bearer of excellence. Now, it's hit or miss, mostly miss. It used to be that staff was cross trained on nearly every aspect of the park and could answer questions that didn't necessarily even relate to their own specific duties. Now, you're lucky if the staff person knows how to perform the minimum requirements of their own jobs, much less being cross trained. An example is, we'd made quite a bit of purchases of merchandise and needed to ship some of it home. In years past, it was very easy to visit one of the Disney hotel gift shops, show them your receipts, and they'd box and ship everything home for you for a fee. This trip, the woman at the gift shop looked like I had a 2nd nose on my face, had to call a manager, which required me to wait 30 min to arrive. The manager was super irritated with the employee, who implied the employee had been trained several times how to do these shipments, but apparently the training hasn't stuck. Cast members were snippy with guests. There were a lot of long lines because of the holiday weekend, and due to unclear markings, people were lining up the best they knew how (which sometimes caused walking lanes to become blocked. ) Staff members would come aggressively shoving people out of the way barking at people to move aside or to line up a different direction. Instances of this happened at the Grand Californian during magic morning hour security screening, at Matterhorn single rider line, at Pirates of the Caribbean, and at Incredicoaster. Magic Morning Hours are a MESS. Staying at the Grand Californian, accessing the magic morning hour for DCA was a breeze. It was well run and staff was polite. However, once we were in the park, we got accosted at least twice by staff members demanding that we show our room key. One example was when walking from Pixar Pier to the GOTG Tower. Apparently they'd let in some other guests early and were lining up at a roped-in area, so the security folks became suspicious of everyone who was walking by. After already waiting for the initial security, then waiting to get in the park, having to wait another 10 min while security people demanded to see room keys just to walk from one part of the park to another was absurd, and ate up a good portion of the extra hour. No one knew what was going on, so you had people who'd already put away their wallets/purses in strollers having to dig all that crap out again, flash they key, only for the next person to be told what was going on, have them dig for the key, etc etc. I had my hands full with a churro and coffee, had to set them on the dirty ground so I could dig my wallet and room key out. This was totally unacceptable, but it wasn't the worst part. The worst part was when it was Disneyland magic morning. The Grand Californian has a grand total of 2 metal detectors in use. Two. For the thousands of people in the hotel lining up to get into the park early, two metal detectors. This resulted in a mile-long line that circled into the gardens and beyond. This line did move fairly quickly (I'd say we waited about 20 min, which was fast considering the number of people in line) but still - 20 minutes at 630 when the park is to open at 7 is a lot of time. Again the staff here screamed at guests. Ordinarily, the security people told you to walk past the bag-search tables if you did not have bags and head directly to metal detectors, so a lot of people were doing that only to be screamed at to get in the back of the line. So even if you had no bags, you had to wait in the bag search lane, and were told so very rudely. Once you finally make it through that line, you then head to the general Disney entrance that everyone uses, including non-Disney hotel guests. There are special lines magic morning people are allowed to use, but only 2 of them. So the lines for hotel guests wanting to take advantage of the magic morning are as long or longer than the lines of guests waiting to get in at the normal start time. Although we allowed an hour to get through all the screening and lines, it was 7:20 by the time we got in to the park. Lo and behold, it turned out that they'd again let some non-magic morning hour guests into the park early and so the room key police were again out in force. Before we were allowed to exit Main Street and get into Tomorrowland, we had to dig our hotel room keys out again, and of course the now 3rd line of the morning started. We finally get to Tomorrowland only to be told Space Mountain was broken down. This left Matterhorn Mountain the only "big" ride available that morning, so the wait time was ~20 min - hardly worthy of a magic morning hour. Long story short, lots of great fun and new experiences and overall the trip was good. But I have to say, the premium Disney charges for its hotels (about double the cost of any nearby hotel) is starting to become questionable. These things used to work like clockwork, and now they are a cluster-f. Some friends of ours who stayed off property were in the park about 20 min after we were. We were shocked. They didn't have access to the rides for the 40 or so minutes we did, but I have to wonder if those 40 minutes are worth paying $800-$1, 500/night? The Four Seasons the Grand Californian is not, and if their supposed perks are causing more trouble than benefit, I don't know how much longer people are going to be willing to pay that premium. The Hotels have got to figure out a better way of getting guests to the magic morning hours. It would have been awesome if they'd set up a train/trolly system like they use for parking guests, and once the guests were screened and tickets swiped at the hotel, load onto the tram and be driven directly into the park. (Although I'm writing from the perspective of a Grand CA guest, I have to imagine guests of Disneyland and Paradise Pier have the same, if not worse, experiences. ) Having guests wait in 2 lines (possibly 3 lines if you get into this room key check BS we did), is highly inconvenient. It was much easier walking into the park at 10 am the morning we arrived. There were no lines to enter, and the entire process took 5 minutes. Seriously, Disney, what is the benefit of paying double the rate of other hotels and why bother offering these early morning hours if you're not going to be serious about getting guests into the park in an efficient and reasonable way?

Normal People Download movie page. This made my day, I wish I could meet this wonderful and hilarious man. 1:25 thats a song from The Netherlands lol😂. Oh wow... I have been testing how much data Stadia uses and I am disappointed on the data optimisation and how Google infamous recommended internet speeds is not that true when I started to play "dark games" like Metro or Gylt. First things first, I’ve been playing Stadia for a few weeks now and I have to say that I am really impressed with the technology, it really feels like I am playing locally with a one digit latency. Played a little bit Crisis, Half Life 2 (I have a NUC so high end graphics are out of the question), and then played Destiny 2 and I couldn't believe I was streaming the game! I even downloaded Destiny 2 from Steam (80GB! ) to try a side by side comparison. 1. Bandwidth analysis I basically ran around 15 minutes analysis on Chrome on three different games (Gylt, Metro, Destiny 2 and RDR2) on two different connections: a 40Mbps home fibre connection with 5 ms latency at 37. 6Mbps effective speed (4. 7MB/s stable download speeds) and 1Gbps leased line with 0-1ms latency. In both cases I am around 15 miles from the Google Data Centre, however in the case of the leased line I am directly connected to big DC that might get some kind of direct Google DC connection. Before jumping to the per game analysis here are two things to be clarified: 1. Stadia bandwidth is capped regardless of your connection as follows: At 720p is 10 Mbps – 4. 5GB per hour (max) At 1080p is 28 Mbps – 12. 6GB per hour (max) *At 4k is 45 Mbps – 20GB per hour (max) That’s all confirmed by my analysis (except for 4k which I can’t really measure because Chrome doesn’t support it) but seems to be backed by Google support page. And fair enough… 28Mbps is more than most Blu-ray movies at 4K and even the 720p bitrate cap is the same of a Netflix 4K movie – if used efficiently, which is not the case for Stadia. However, there are serious time constrains on Stadia as the frame needs to be compressed almost instantly compared to a typical movie when you can spend a few seconds compressing each frame if you decide to prioritise quality and getting much more quality in less space. I cannot say what is the equivalence of this real time video stream Google is using but perhaps 50%. Not quite true google! I think someone at google got this totally graph wrong because those speeds are incorrect. Max cap is 45Mbps, which you would need at least a 50Mbps connection to reach that. That’s far from the “best” 35Mbps Google announced. In my case, I never reached 4K on my Chromecast on the 40Mbps connection. 2. There is absolutely no difference between Balanced and Best Visual Quality data usage modes in Stadia, however Balanced locks it at 1080p but doesn’t affect the bitrate. All tests below are on Best Visual Quality option. BVQ option would give 4K stream however that is not supported on Chrome. 3. Google uses a preset on the video encoder with priority over “bandwidth” rather than “quality”. More on this on the conclusion. Per game bandwidth analysis I played around 15 minutes of each game in both connections, the graph you can see in the images shows the bandwidth usage per 10 seconds average of download speed (Stadia upload speed requirements are less than 0. 8Mbps). Full size screenshots can be found at the end of this post. Samurai Shodown @ 40 Mbps connection: All good here as expected as it’s very “colourful” game, so game utilises the full bandwidth. Only on loading screens or between fights the bandwidth drops dramatically – which makes total sense but you still see some artefacts on these transitions. Again, what I don’t want to save my bandwidth and get the best quality? Stadia doesn’t give you this option. Samurai Shodown @ 1 Gbps connection: there is virtually no difference on bandwidth. I tried this on balanced settings with same results. Again some artefacts appeared during transitions. Note 2. 4Mbps bitrate on still images. Destiny 2 @ 40 Mbps connection: As Samurai Showdown, Destiny 2 uses a rather bright colour settings so it plays at the cap and only when going to menus or dark places goes down. I played the first 20 minutes of the game, you can see entering at the aerodrome at the beginning the bitrate goes down as it’s quite dark part of the intro. This is the proof that Stadia prioritises less bandwidth over more quality on the video encoding even with excellent connections. Destiny 2 @ 1 Gbps connection: Similar performance here and again unnecessary artefacts in some dark parts of the game which are totally unnecessary as Stadia could keep the bitrate at its cap to remove them. Truth be told, these are not noticeable while you play unless you pay attention. Gylt @ 40 Mbps connection: Stadia’s adaptative bitrate encoding prioritising “economy over quality” does a horrible job on this game as the average bitrate is 6. 4 Mbps – that´s horrible google! I only managed to reach the cap of 28Mbps going to a bright scene and deliberately move the camera constantly to force the bitrate up. In a normal gameplay you would never reach that. The overall experience was acceptable but I could notice quite a lot of artefacts in some scenes that shouldn’t be there because both my connection and Stadia allows for it. For me this ruined a little bit the experience. As you can see I finished the game but it wasn’t that bad I guess! Gylt @ 1 Gbps connection: Stadia still makes use of the adaptative bitrate management but it’s not that extreme. On bright areas I could reach the cap but not in dark areas. However, overall quality was much better as the number of macroblocks or artefacts from low bitrates are only presents on some parts – which is still far from ideal as average bitrate is far from that 28 Mbps cap. Metro Exodus @ 40 Mbps connection: bitrate is quite bad during the first 20 minutes of Metro due to really dark scenes. The macro blocks were obvious, and quality dropped to the point at some points slightly ruined the experience. The average bitrate was ridiculously low I’ve seen to around 6. 4 Mbps. Again, Stadia ruins the experience here unnecessarily. Metro Exodus @ 1 Gbps connection: although the experience dramatically improves here – without reason because the 40 Mbps connection is more than capable of reaching these bitrates – still some parts produced unnecessary macroblocks. Average bitrate is 16 Mbps. You can watch more about this on Digital Foundry’s video here: RDR2 @ 40 Mbps connection: I played the first 20 minutes and it was a pretty much horrible macroblocking experience so I asked for a refund. Average bitrate was 8 Mbps. The narrative of this game make the graphics a very important part of the whole experience and here Stadia refuses to deliver without a valid reason. RDR2 @ 1 Gbps connection: bitrate is drastically better making the whole experience much better reaching the 28 Mbps cap most of the times. However in some parts of the game the bitrate was really low, for example when the Rockstar Games logo appears at the beginning. I remember watching a video from Digital Foundry commenting on that and pointing out that’s because the game is streamed when this is actually not true, is just Stadia not maintaining a constant bitrate. Bandwidth analysis conclusions - Stadia seems to decide the quality of your video stream based on your connection. In this example the 40Mbps connection is more than capable of delivering 28 Mbps stable yet Stadia refuses to deliver it in dark games give a very poor stream experience at some points. This is still the case on the 1Gpbs connection. - You don’t have a way of choosing if you want to save data or just have best possible quality. What if you have a data cap but a 1Gbps connection? You may want to sacrifice some quality for data usage but you don’t have that option. - Video encoding preset with bandwidth over quality is a really bad decision from Google. I have watched a lot of bad publicity to Stadia (Digital Foundry for example – and I love DF! ) due to this and in reality it could have been avoided if they kept a stable bitrate instead of variable. I guess they need to save some CPU power on the Data Centre but at least they should give user options to change this. Now the damage is done, and everyone thinks stream quality is bad when in reality is just a one click setting. - Google completely lied about the speeds required as I see it, there is no way you can get the full experience with a 35Mbps connection at 1080p, not to mention reaching 4K with 40Mbps. It is clear that granular control on video encoding presets and data usage need to be introduced and Google should update that infamous internet speed graph. Latency / input lag Analysis For this test I played some game with mouse and keyboard on the zero latency connection and adding latency on top using WinDivert. Test is totally subjective to my gameplay. I am used to play FPS on PC so I can recognise when there is some input lag. However note that I am not a professional gamer. When I say 0 latency is because my connection literally states 0-1ms latency but there is Stadia + PC latency, in the same way there would be some when I play natively on my PC. Latency has been consistently tested in services like or even google. Destiny 2 - mouse & keyboard Added latency: 0ms – gameplay feels totally like playing natively 15ms – I cannot feel any difference from playing with 0 latency 25ms – now I start to feel some latency, it’s there and you can still play but it doesn´t make it that fun to play for me as I am used to play on PC. 50ms – Noticeable latency but still playable, not enjoyable for me. I understand some people might not notice much and you could perfectly adapt to it. +70ms – Warning that game might stop. +100ms – Not fun to play and a similar experience from what I got in PS Now. The game eventually stops Destiny 2 Gamepad 0ms – gameplay feels totally like playing natively 15ms – I cannot feel any difference from playing with 0 latency 25ms – very tiny latency that I can only notice when I change on the fly the latency software, however if I were playing for minutes I wouldn´t notice anything on a AB blind test. 50ms – Still acceptable and you could adapt to it I guess. A lot of people I’m sure wouldn’t notice. +70ms – Still it’s not terrible but game stopped after a few minutes. The game eventually stops. Samurai Shodown - Gamepad (infamous to play with keyboard! ) 0ms – gameplay feels totally like playing natively 15ms – gameplay feels totally like playing natively 25ms – I´m confident that in a blind AB test on the fly I wouldn’t be able to stop any differences. 50ms – I might notice some latency when changing on the fly but nothing in a normal gameplay after a few a minute playing. +70ms – I can’t really feel a difference after a few minutes. I only feel it when a activate/deactivate the latency on the fly but not after the adapting period. +100ms – I can only notice latency while pressing the buttons and watching the character to respond, in a kind of synthetic test. However in during normal gameplay when you are crazy like pressing the buttons it´s difficult to notice – but it´s there! However eventually the game stops due to bad connection. Tombraider – mouse and keyboard 0ms – gameplay feels totally like playing natively 15ms – gameplay feels totally like playing natively 25ms – I would be able to identify the lag in blind AB test on the fly but with this latency after a few minutes I wouldn’t notice. 50ms – I might notice some latency when changing on the fly but nothing in a normal gameplay after a few a minutes playing. +100ms – I can feel the lag moving the camera with the mouse but it’s not terrible. However the game eventually stops. Tombraider – gamepad Exactly the same experience as Samurai Shodown with gamepad. Latency Conclusions I would say that anything from 1 to 25 will feels natively if you play with gamepad. However, if you are a mouse and keyboard player and like FPS like me you will start notice something above that figure. But it won´t be unbearable. On the 1-15 ms mark the game feels like native to me. There is a good bonus here with the gamepad though as it naturally introduces a lot of input lag so this can be quite unnoticeable for most players even at +50 ms. Also the type of games you play might make a difference, shooters will definitely require lower latency than most of other games. I probably watched almost all Stadia reviews in YT and I think only 1 or 2 mentioned something about the latency and they all focused on internet speed test, so I think the media is not really giving the right importance to this since speeds are totally irrelevant on the experience. I actually think not many people can get such low latencies yet Google didn’t say a word about this – what about saying “hey check your latency as well”? If you are reading this and you are thinking about getting stadia I recommend you check your latency first: CPU analysis I made this test because there were a lot of people and reviewers experiencing audio and video stuttering. My experience with video encoding says that in most of the cases that’s is not produced by low internet performance but the device not being able to handle the decoding video task. While playing I intentionally throttled down the CPU of my Intel NUC with a i7 8559U running at 3. 95GHz (2. 7GHz base speed, 4. 5GHz max) with 16GB RAM to see what the performance was, which confirmed my thoughts. First I will compare the CPU performance of Stadia vs Youtube on chrome without any extensions running and the CPU unlocked. This is the video I tested: link Stadia vs Youtube 4k@60 FPS Idle CPU usage is 2% and CPU stays at 0. 97GHz (all background apps closed). Stadia in Chrome (1080p@60FPS): ~ 20% CPU / ~2. 2GHz Chrome 1080p @ 60 FPS video: ~ 10% CPU / ~1. 64Ghz Chrome 4K @ 60 FPS video: ~ 25% CPU / ~3. 95Ghz Stadia CPU performance Stadia unlocked CPU – 3. 95 Ghz Plays perfectly fine as expected but there are peaks of the CPU reaching 3. 9Ghz and GPU usage is around 20% (Iris 655). Stadia capped at 1. 79 GHz CPU stayed constantly at 1. 79Ghz but with no issues Stadia capped at 1. 2 GHz Minor stuttering issues like moving the mouse and not responding for a few milliseconds. Minimal audio stuttering. Stadia capped at 1 GHz Quite a lot stuttering issues. Not fun to play but still no audio stuttering. Stadia capped at 0. 79 GHz Unplayable with video and audio stuttering. Macroblocking appearing and sudden low resolution video. Everything below this cap made Stadia totally unresponsive with terrible A/V stuttering. CPU performance conclusion Although this is a rather simple test it shows that video decoding is not trivial and even a decent office PC can create problems if you have background apps. I reckon Chrome at 4K will need a relatively modern PC seeing the CPU usage at 1080p. Probably this is the case as well for phone support, they want to keep the experience locked to the devices they can control and know they will perform well. I believe this to be the reason why Google is not supporting 4k yet, especially considering they have a good set of Chromebooks with very limited CPU performance out there. I understand they want to offer the best experience and if they unlocked 4K a lot of people would get bad performance and therefore bad reviews from those who believe Stadia should play in any PC. This is not a criticism at all. I understand people might not be that technical to realise video decoding is challenging in a 5 years PC but again Google has done a poor job explaining the minimal requirements to make people understand they won’t be able to play 4K in Chrome and even at 1080 they would struggle. I just fear that 4K support might take a long time to be supported due to this. General Stadia review conclusion I think the technology is really impressive and shows that you can play streaming and still feel like native with the correct internet connection. However I feel Google has failed to communicate these requirements and they are locking the experience too much restricting Chrome support to just 1080p. To me the key is having the freedom to play in anywhere you have a good connection – being able to have a quick break while working to play Destiny it’s just awesome! Yeah I know Stadia is not like playing on a PC at 4k Ultra, but I don’t really need that anyway. Also, something I haven’t really read much is that being able to choose to play with Gamepad or mouse and keyboard is a game changer over the classic console with very limited mouse support, although Xbox seems to have realised this is the way forward for a lot of gamers. Regarding model price, I don’t really have an issue with that. I have bough a few games in Steam and I don’t own them either – doesn’t make a difference if I download them as I still need Steam to play. Videogame streaming might not be the future but I think Stadia got it right with this and when it’s open to everyone there will be a huge user base that will make the platform better. PS: if you have read all this you deserve an award!! EDIT 12-dec-19: 1. Added clarification about realtime video encoding vs traditional video encoding (when you have all the time in world! ) and 2. converted all to Mbps as per feedback except screenshots.

Many guys go on dates and “wing it, ” they just hope for the best and see what happens. These men might get a kiss goodbye, but rarely more. Leading dates towards sex (or a second date) isn’t difficult, but there are a few steps you must take to consistently get the results you want. Most (but not all) girls who go on a date with a guy in the 21st century are open to the possibility of having sex (sometimes they’re even disappointed when a man doesn’t make a move). We don’t live in the Victorian Era—modern society is getting progressively more sex-positive. Casual sex is a big part of today’s cultural narrative: random hookups are promoted in everything from pop music to family-friendly sitcoms. However, at the same time, women do still get slut shamed if they have sex ‘too easily. ’ Even if a girl wants to sleep with you, she will only go home with you make her feel like she won’t be judged. In this article, you are going to learn how to run your dates in a way that will both turn the girl and make her comfortable with the idea of going home with you. Not every girl will sleep with you on the first date, but if you follow the steps outlined below, many will. And if you’re not interested in casual sex, these strategies will also help you make the girls you date want to see you again. When a woman wants to sleep with you bad enough, it won’t be hard to convince her to go on a second, third, and fourth date. The Mindset She Has Already Chosen You If a girl goes on a date with you, it is implied that she’s attracted in you. You (hopefully) made it clear in the initial interaction that you are interested in more than friendship (here's an infield example of what this looks like:) Therefore, the girl knows that if she goes on a date with you, you’re probably going to make a move. If she isn’t attracted to you, what would she have to gain by going on a date with you? It would inevitably be uncomfortable for her and despite what many people think, women don’t like rejecting men, it’s just as awkward to turn someone else down as it is to get turned down. Most women will not go on a date with you unless they are at least open to the possibility that something romantic might happen. So, when a girl you approached shows up to meet you again, you have good reason to assume that she’s attracted to you. And it’s important to make this assumption, because if you assume a woman is not interested and wait to see signs that she likes you, you’re going to interpret everything that happens through the lens of, “She’s probably not interested. ”As a result, you probably won’t physically escalate or invite her back to your place. Conversely, if you assume she is interested, you will see everything she does through a positive lens, and you will be more likely to take risks. Positive assumptions don’t guarantee that you will sleep with a girl, but they create the opportunity for something to happen. When you ask a girl to go home with you, there’s at least the possibility that she will say yes. (In case someone who lacks social awareness reads this, when I say assume she’s interested, I mean assume it until she gives you a reason to believe otherwise. If you lean in for a kiss and she pulls away, respect her decision. ) Remember, on a date, there is very good reason for you to make positive assumptions. This belief isn’t arbitrary, it’s based on the fact that this girl took time out of her day to hang out with you when she could have done a thousand other things. She wanted to create a situation where something might be able to happen with you. Pick your poison: assume women are interested and risk an awkward moment, or wait for proof that women are interested, and go without knowing what could have happened if you took a risk. Preparation For The Date Once you’ve got the mindset down, the next step is to have a specific plan for how you’re going to lead your dates forward.   Have an excuse to pull Generally, when you pull a girl, you’ll make an excuse like, “Let’s watch a movie, ” or, “Let’s grab a drink. ” You should have ready a bottle of wine, food to cook (it can be as simple as a frozen pizza), a movie downloaded on your computer, or even a checkers board set up. The excuse to pull doesn’t have to be anything elaborate, but plan for it in advance, otherwise you’ll have to think about how you’re going to pull her while you’re on the date, and this can easily lead to overthinking and hesitation. Choose a favorable location Generally, I have dates about a mile from my place. There’s no reason to create difficulty for yourself by planning the date somewhere too far out of the way (of course, if she lives far away you may want to meet in the middle). Now, if you can’t pull to your place because you live with your parents, you’re homeless, or whatever, then find out what area the girl lives in and plan the date somewhere close to her place. I avoid dinner dates because they’re too formal, and this can make both you and the girl feel uncomfortable. Movie dates are also bad because you can’t really talk to the girl during most of the date, all you can really do is awkwardly put your arm around her shoulder. Instead, my go to is coffee. Coffee shops are in public so there isn’t any reason for a girl worry about getting ax murdered (compared to inviting her straight to your place). Plus, coffee shops are a very casual social environment where it’s easy to have conversation—and that’s what a date is really about, you and a girl getting to know each other. There are a few other good options for dates: Bars and clubs: Drinking can help you and your date get into a carefree mood. Obviously, you shouldn’t be getting yourself—or her—too drunk, but having a couple drinks in social situations is a cultural ritual for a reason. If you’re only comfortable going on dates that involve alcohol, that’s a problem. However, bars are generally a good place to get to know someone. Nightclubs are even better because you can dance with the girl (this is a very smooth way to make things physical). A public park: Parks are a good place for dates because you can walk around, see the sights, and talk. There’s also no financial investment necessary. Furthermore, parks are public enough that most women will feel safe, but there’s also enough secluded areas that you can find somewhere to make out with the girl. A group activity: You can invite girls to see stand-up comedy, to go to a party, or to see a concert. These dates aren’t as good as the above options for getting to know a girl, but they are good in that they are low investment—someone who’s on the fence about meeting you again may be willing to go to see stand-up with you, whereas she might not get coffee with you. These kind of dates are also good for building a social circle. You can set up a weekly event that you go to and invite different girls that you meet to join. This could be a game night at your house, a weekly volleyball game, or something similar. You could even find a group to join on and then invite girls to go to the group’s events with you. Before The Date I always confirm my dates a couple hours before the planned meeting time. This greatly reduces the risk of getting stood up. I simply text, “See you at (X location) in 2 hours:)” or something to that effect. Nine times out of ten, she’ll respond by confirming or flaking. If she doesn’t respond, I just text her again about 30-minutes before the date, “Are you on your way? ” And if she’s going, she’ll let me know. Doing this allows you to avoid wasting time by showing up to a date that a girl may have forgotten about or decided not to go to.   The Beginning Of The Date Build Sexual Tension Men often make dates too logical, almost like an interview. But women don’t go out with guys to exchange information, they go out with guys to exchange emotions. So, when you’re on a date with a girl, your overarching mindset should be that you’re there because she’s sexy, because you desire her. The words you say may be logical, but the intent behind them should be sexual. When you’re at the table with her, appreciate her feminine energy, notice how attractive she is. She will sense your desire on an emotional level, and because she’s on a date with you, she probably wants to experience a sexual charge in the interaction. Your desire for her will turn her on: she wants to feel desirable, she wants you to want her (). Of course, if you get the sense she’s becoming uncomfortable, take a step back, dial down the intensity of your eye contact and keep the conversation light for a while. Seduction is a two-way street and if you’re two steps ahead of a girl, the interaction isn’t likely to go anywhere. To create sexual tension, you don’t have to be physical and you don’t have to talk about sex. Although both of those things can help if they’re done well, they can also backfire. Understand: some girls don’t like being openly sexual in public because they don’t want to be judged as acting ‘slutty’. Therefore, too much physicality can make a girl uncomfortable. Similarly, talking about sex, if done in a way that isn’t tactful, can make you come across as a ‘fuckboy’: a guy with no class who only wants to get laid. Physicality and sexual conversation have their place, but they aren’t the most powerful methods for creating sexual tension. The best way to spark desire is by feeling it yourself (), and by holding strong, intentful eye contact. Truthfully, if you do these two things right, you’ll stand out as more seductive than 95% of men. There are other methods for building sexual tension (masculine vocal tonality, being dominant, teasing), but I wouldn’t focus on those until you’ve mastered the two aforementioned fundamentals—they are the points of greatest leverage. Build Comfort When you’re on a date with a girl, show interest in what she’s saying, ask further questions, and bring the conversation towards topics that are emotionally relevant to her. **The girl doesn’t want you to win her over as much as she wants to feel like she’s winning you over. ** Yes, it’s helpful to be witty and insightful, but it’s even better if you make her feel like she’s witty and insightful. Everyone is somewhat insecure about how interesting they are—especially women (because they’re unsure whether they’re being valued as human beings or merely as sex objects). If you can make a girl feel confident that she is interesting, she will be completely charmed by you. At the same time, you don’t want to seem like you’re pandering to the girl, it’s possible to come across as sycophantic if you are overly agreeable and complimentary. So, on the one hand you should listen carefully to the girl and show interest in her ideas, but on the other hand, she will trust you more if you occasionally challenge her. Be willing to disagree with things the girl says, this shows that you aren’t a pushover who’s being fake to win her favor. If you are constantly disagreeable, the girl won’t think you really like her, but if you are constantly agreeable, she won’t think you are being honest. There should be some occasional friction. So long as you show respect for the girl’s opinions even when you disagree with them, she will respect you because you were willing to stand up for yourself: now she knows she can really trust you. Moving the date forward There’s no reason to talk at a coffee shop (or other date location) for several hours. By taking the girl on a walk, you can create the sense that your date has forward momentum to it. Within the first 30 minutes or so of a date I’ll simply suggest, “Let’s go on a walk, ” (this has never been met with resistance). It doesn’t really matter if the area you’re walking in is visually appealing, all that matters is that the two of you are going on a bit of an adventure together. You don’t have to initiate physicality while you’re walking with a girl (if there’s sexual tension you don’t need to touch her until you’re in a bedroom), but physicality can be useful in that it will give you objective feedback that a girl likes you. If you hold a girl’s hand while walking, you can be fairly confident that the girl is interested in you. If you’re unsure whether a girl you’re on a date with is attracted to you, touch can be a great way to get some reassurance. Pulling While you’re walking with the girl, you can seed the pull. To do this, suggest something that would be fun to do together. For example, you might say: You: Have you seen Black Mirror? Her: No. You: Really, you haven’t? It’s such a great show, you have to see it, we’ll watch an episode sometime. Her: Okay, sounds cool! After you seed the pull, go back to normal conversation for a while. Now that the idea of watching a show together has been brought up, it will be much smoother to invite her to your place later on. Later in the conversation, say something to the effect of, “You know what, let’s go watch an episode of Black Mirror right now, it’ll be fun16. ” When going for the pull, you might get resistance. If the girl says, “Oh, I don’t really have time, ” this might indicate that she’s not ready to go home with you yet, or it might mean that she really doesn’t have much time. If she gives you resistance, you can allay her concerns by saying, “Well, I live five minutes away, and it’s just a TV show, we can watch one episode then I’ll take you home right after. ” If she was on the fence about whether to go home with you, this line will most likely change her mind. If a girl is giving resistance because she doesn’t want to come home with you, the above line won’t make a difference, and there’s no point in pressing the issue any further. If, however, she agrees to watch the show, lead her to your car (or her car if you don’t have one), or get an Uber, and keep doing what you were doing. The tone of the conversation should be exactly the same as it was before the pull—you’re shooting the shit and having fun. Some guys get quiet and awkward once they pull, this kills the vibe which can lead the girl to say, “You know what, I should be getting home now. ” Don’t be that guy. Conclusion When a girl agrees to go on a date with you, she’s probably hoping you will turn her on and excite her. Remember, modern women are generally open minded to the idea of having casual sex: they just need to meet a guy who makes them feel genuine desire. Understand: the girl wants you to do well, she wants you to sweep her off her feet. Fortunately, you don’t have to do much to stand out from the competition, most modern men are incredibly insecure about their sexuality and turn dates into interviews in which she doesn’t feel desire, she feels like she’s signing a business contract. The keys to a good date are to create sexual tension by holding strong eye contact and allowing yourself to feel desire for the girl, while also building comfort by showing interest in what the girl says and being willing to disagree with her or challenge her opinions (this shows genuineness). Do those two things, and all you’ll be able to move the date forward by inviting her to hang out with you in private. If you do this well, the majority of women you go on a date with will want to hook up with you. Ordinary Love is a really surprising film. It's by no means a perfect film but it is a really enjoyable film with emotion done well without feeling too over the top especially for a cancer film.
Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville are really great here. They really do carry this film. Since it is primarily focused on these two characters and pretty much no one else. Liam Neeson is really great here and it makes me wonder why he hasn't done more action films.
Overall it's a very simple told very effectively. It does have a lot emotion and it really does work especially the ending. But it's definitely worth watching. Writers write. Each has their own path. If you need advice, surrender. You're not a writer. Atwood can offer only trite hackneyed platitudes and fluff. She knows how it works.

Cast Crew Details Genres Director Producers Writer Editor Cinematography Production Design Costumes Popular reviews More Nicole Kidman: i’m the queen of bad wigs! Blake Lively: hold that thought... 🚫42% 2020 list - Click  HERE This has to be one of my more unfortunate reviews of 2020 so far. Not that I expected The Rhythm Section to be fantastic, but this cast/crew should have given us something a bit more memorable. This is a bland attempt at a story that has been told hundreds of times prior. There is nothing (truly) special about this film; other than the fact that you have such a talented actress as your lead. Blake Lively has proven (especially recently) that she has what it takes to own a role. She definitely owns this role, and she honestly does everything she can, but it isn’t enough to salvage this stale story. It isn’t that it’s… The most overplayed trailer award goes to The Rhythm Section. I actually didn't necessarily want to see this after being overexposed to it and hearing the Sleigh Bells' song "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" a million times. But I admire Reed Morano as a cinematographer and director and went for it. Dumbing down Blake Lively's beauty and giving her bruises and track marks really seemed pointless and a tad much. She is a girl that has gone through much trauma and turns to prostitution and drugs. However, after a platonic encounter with a journalist, she finds new meaning in life and seeks to avenge those who did her wrong and to stop future attacks. The flashbacks to her happy… "Think of your heart as the drum and your breathing as the bass. " - Jude Law, - 2020 Ranked: 2 stars because Blake Lively rocks the crackhouse chic look and there is one fun chase scene. The Rhythm Section is the poorly titled film about the training of the most incompetent assassin in England. This is a boring movie. Sometimes boring is just a cop out term used by assholes that can't appreciate cinema but here I mean it's actually boring. It's boring because it's predictable which makes you feel like you are just waiting for the film to end. It's monotonous with little artistic flair which makes each scene just feel like something to get through. But also, as slow and monotonous as it feels, the editing makes it confusing, there are two or three things I'm not even sure I fully understood because of the poor storytelling. Blake Lively completionists only. A strong performance can't hold up unremarkable direction and a screenplay that never should have been adapted. As someone who wants desperately to sing the praises of Lively more often this is what we've come to expect unfortunately. Her films like Savages and A Simple Favor don't come often enough. The messages of this screenplay could have been much more impactful if it had been written from scratch for the screen. Jumping your timeline, especially this insincerely isn't storytelling and it isn't cool. The film equivalent of a nu metal album twenty years after it was cool. Ugh. EON Productions, showing an awareness of the clamour in some parts for a female James Bond, have done a better thing instead. Of course Bond shouldn't be female. And I say that because I'm a massive sexist. But if I wasn't one and didn't have #NotAllMen tattooed on my left knacker, I would suggest that if we are going to try and replicate, to some degree, what Bond has 'achieved' over the last 60 years that we should instead bring to the table a character specifically created for a woman. Rather than shoving her in the shoes of a character whose record when it comes to equality isn't reeeeeeeeeeeally the best. We've seen a couple of attempts at it recently, … Recent reviews "It's hard to believe the stars of this vapid spy thriller fell for a script that is so lazily strung together, it's the film version of a couch potato. #TheRhythmSection is so cocksure, it never offers any evidence on why its characters come to their conclusions. "⭐1/2 #SkipIt Great spy thriller action, especially that car chase omg that was amazing Overly complicated plot with horrendous pacing. I had no idea what was going on for half the movie but the action was good and that's all I wanted from this Also the cinematography for this film with the ultra wide shots and weird tilt-shift focus made a very pleasant and dreamy atmosphere. I was so bored I started trying to predict when the next cut would be. Coincidentally, the editing was very predictable. I was mainly interested in this because of Blake Lively. From the trailers, it seemed like a damn sight better, more story-driven film similar to ANNA (2019). This was amazing, 100x better than ANNA. Terrific acting by Blake, truly a transformative role for her. Blake's British accent was really believable. The action scenes were quite intense, especially the car chase where the camera was in the vehicle throughout the entire chase, very immersive. The song choices were excellent, fit the scenes perfectly. I enjoyed this a lot especially for Blake Lively. 8. 4/10 A well directed movie made around a dog shit script. That about says it all. Visually this looks and feels like it should be a masterpiece but once the plot builds everything falls apart. Characters in movies tend to end up in pretty unrealistic situations compared to the average human on earth so it's up to the screenwriter to make the characters journey believable no matter the situation. This screenwriter did not do that. Not at all. Not in the God damn slightest. Our character had family die in a plane crash and after that she becomes a prostitute and a drug addict. Later she learns it was actually terrorist who bombed the plane and she decides to take action. … Blake Lively stars as Stephanie Patrick a woman grief stricken from the loss of her parents & siblings in a plane explosion.  Wasting her life away in drugs and prostitution she is given a new purpose in life when information regarding as to who is behind the explosion comes to life.  Then Stephanie Patrick becomes obsessed with finding the people responsible and kill them all. What looks like a typical action/revenge thriller actually turns out to be a drama dealing with the affects of trauma and grief on a loss such as this.  It was actually a nice surprise and change of pace. The movie is a slow burn and is an interesting character study.  Blake Lively really owns her role… A very interesting take on a family revenge drama, however, Blake Lively made the show watchable, without her it would have been just another family revenge drama. This film reminded me of the film Peppermint (2019) The acting is good and the action is great. The story reminded me of a high school presentation where the presenter didn't prepare at all and just made crap up as they went along. 1. cast: Emily Beecham
  2. Sci-Fi
  3. review: Alice, a single mother, is a dedicated senior plant breeder at a corporation engaged in developing new species. She has engineered a very special crimson flower, remarkable not only for its beauty but also for its therapeutic value: if kept at the ideal temperature, fed properly and spoken to regularly, this plant makes its owner happy. Against company policy, Alice takes one home as a gift for her teenage son, Joe. They christen it 'Little Joe' but as it grows, so too does Alice's suspicion that her new creations may not be as harmless as their nickname suggests

Audience Score 56348 votes brief One quiet year after unearthing the old-school video-game console in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), Spencer and his friends--Martha, Fridge, and Bethany--have all gone their separate ways. However, the power of the mysterious board game is unlimited, and before they know it, the quartet of reluctant players, along with a pair of unexpected participants, find themselves, once again, pulled into the dangerous mystical realm. This time, the game has evolved, and challenging new levels await the users' digital alter egos, as a mighty adversary bent on destruction threatens Jumanji. Amid unforgiving deserts, treacherous jungle oases, and steep snow-capped mountains will Dr Smoulder Bravestone and the other characters figure out how to cooperate, and get out of there alive? duration 2 H 3 Minute 7,8 / 10 writer Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner.

It focused way too much on the circle of friends and their relationships. I get it. you need to establish relationships before delving into movie, but it took WAYYYY to long to get to the fun part. Kevin Hart's comedic talent was wasted on him being based on Danny Glover (booooring. The Rock was similarly not as funny, as his portrayal of Danny Devito was a stretch (enough of the the New York accent already. Jack Black played the straight (serious) man, which again, is a waste of his talent. He is too funny to waste in that role. The rest of the characters were good. Basically, although this movoe wasn't terrible, the first movie was much better than this one.

Hồi cuối 2017, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle thu 36, 2 triệu USD nội địa sau ba ngày đầu ra rạp. Knives Out tiếp tục phong độ xuất sắc với việc chỉ giảm 35% doanh thu so với tuần trước.

When her best friend goes missing at a rodeo, Heidi goes on a search across the desert, digging up secrets and encountering the violence of life on country=Ireland 4,1 of 10 stars Star=Christian Camargo. Omg I can't wait for this movie...

I like how he keep the actors and his wife in all his movies its greatttnesssss.

So there's a whole damn race of Maleficents? Things are getting interesting. I still appreciate the production quality and effort you guys put into every video! Keep it up. Matt is trapped with agent d agent d is texting on Matt's phone. So this is what happened after damon became human and lived with elena.

Omg Gia is and always was so gorgeous. I mean even as a child she was the cutest little thing. I feel like shes my niece too! 😭😭😭 lmao. This is a strong performance by women. How can Hollywood get it so so wrong. Man, I had this letter I was suppose to put in and I could not find it for weeks. It just poped up again and i think im gonna send in. Thumbs down because I'm JEALOUS AF. How did you get a 99 into the states with Montana plates. Abigail Breslin looks just like Scarlett Johanson in the thumbnail.

If you like this drama, enjoy. Drama is caused by 51% of the world's population which have the same destructive nature. Movies with humans have the hero and girl trying to get with each other. They even include animals assuming human characteristics of that man-woman nonsense. Be careful of what gets brainwashed into your subconscious from this. Watch out for hole guys. The romance angle (romance(tm) is too much a term for this) is handled charmingly/cutesy but all of this is like aw man here we go with this stuff. I know this movie is showing guidance to males how to deal with females. All imagination shown in this movie, creativity is the male ability, while females are replication of humans (aka babies) so both goals are contrasts with each other and know if you stick it in their hole your creativity goes swoosh disintegrates, you fall inline with patriarchy which is uncompromising. Replication is them celebrating the debauchery of humankind while creativity is trying to get closer to God (creating imaginative things.) Any contact with female is the road to babies guys. Even the cutesy way movie dalliances are portrayed. I cant provide all the know-how on the matter, what I can state here that someone else hasn't figured throughout the thousands of yrs of human knowledge. They want to grind up men but it is I who grind them into fine dust. I get it's hormones, just j/o in toilet or napkin.

Yeah whats with this vid it wont load. GMO foods aren't actually that bad, you know that right? What's bad is the MEAT that's processed and has hormones and alllll that crap. But GMOd veggies and fruits are fine. It reduces the use of pesticides which is great, along with a bunch of other things. I did a whole lot of research on it for a huge essay for an Ecology class and found a TON of research. If you actually do research on credible sources instead of biased blog articles, you'll find the stigma behind GMOs are fake. Im not direting this toward Nikki, but towards anyone who thinks GMOs are insanely bad for you.

When on Netflix. I thought it's Scarlett Johansson on the thumbnail lmao. Look at Karen yall.

Even though I only watched the trailer for now, but from what I saw, eiza should've won an oscar For her performance.
I really hope in the movie that Jane and her friend Heidi get out of that train wreck of a mess they gotten themselves into or ill never forgive them both. I won't rate she's missing for now until after I seen it! Hope it comes to theaters or on DVD soon.
