I got click baited into the best space race documentary. Goddamnit. Technically well made film is atrocious in just about every other department. The script is hobbled by the sheer volume of clichés and since the outcome of the astronauts fate is already known to history, there isn't an ounce of suspense. Director Howard's bland direction deadens an already overlong movie, which tries to liven things up with a bombastic score and the casting of "stars" in the pivotal roles. It doesn't work. Tom Hanks addicts will probably want to see it, but this one is as bad as Howard's other thudding disappointment, Far and Away.
If you want to see a good movie on the U.S. space program, see Phil Kaufman's 1983 pic The Right Stuff. Avoid this one unless you need some snooze time and wasting nearly 2½ hours is your prime directive.

Watch stream apollo 13 4. 1968 was one of the most incredible years in history. I was 13 at the time, but I still remember the assassinations, the riots, the music. And at the end of the year on Christmas Eve, watching Apollo 8 looking back at us from the moon. Even at that age, I knew history was being made. Is this really a 1968 movie. Watch stream apollo 13 cast. I don't find "Apollo 13" a very entertaining movie, but it's still what I would call very good entertainment. Sometimes there is this kind of annoying emotionalism, which is quite clear, as it's about both technical achievement and American history. There is that one scene I dislike most: When the pope and the people at the Wailing Wall are praying for the astronauts. I have no idea whether this really happened or not - but honestly I do not believe it.
But the good thing is that I don't mind this emotionalism because of some very refreshing aspects. First what we see here are altogether very nice performances. Especially Ed Harris makes the movie enjoyable with his very fine acting. Kathleen Quinlan, who was nominated for an Oscar as well, is also very good - but you don't really notice her. Gary Sinise is almost as good as Harris and Tom Hanks also tries his best to give his character a special personality and some soul - he doesn't really succeed.
Also very refreshing is the small deal of irony in this. There are many little scenes before the launch which indicate in a slightly funny way that Apollo t h i r t e e n means disaster like Quinlan losing her wedding ring. All these aspects make a not really entertaining movie extremely worth watching. I voted 7, for good.
By the way... I noticed that Emily Ann Lloyd (whom you might know from "Home For the Holiday" who plays little Susan Lovell, is overacting. She's got no major importance for the story, but her overacting attracts of course attention.

W atching Brahms: The Boy II, an awkwardly titled and staggeringly incompetent sequel to a film no one remembers, one’s mind will wander. After giving up on trying, and failing, to find some vaguely passable entertainment up on the big screen, a flurry of questions will circulate, ranging from the logical to the existential, an increasingly desperate attempt to understand the hows and whys of what got us all to this hopeless place. How did anyone think a sequel to The Boy was a worthwhile endeavour? Why isn’t Katie Holmes reading scripts before she signs on? How did a horror film get made by someone so unfamiliar with how to actually make a horror film? Why does any of this matter? By the end, wearily stumbling on to the street, these questions will remain frustratingly unanswered – except for the last one. Brahms: The Boy II doesn’t matter. It’s a carelessly made slab of nonsense, ferried along a production line without emotion or enthusiasm, assembled by a team of inelegant charlatans feigning interest in a genre they seemingly know very little about. The first film was throwaway sleepover fodder but it proved diverting enough, thanks to a nifty last act twist and a committed performance from The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan. She’s been replaced here with Holmes, a star of higher wattage yet one with a more limited skillset on display, playing her part with such an uninvolved lethargy it’s a miracle she doesn’t keep nodding off mid-scene. Brahms, a name that sounds like a collective term for the Inception trailer noise, is a controlling doll with a list of rules that his owner must abide by lest they face the consequences. After a home invasion leaves her on edge, Londoner Liza (Holmes) moves to the countryside with husband Sean (Owain Yeoman) and son Jude (Christopher Convery), who hasn’t spoken since the attack. They settle at a guesthouse near an abandoned mansion, hoping for some respite from the chaos of the city. But when Jude finds Brahms, buried in the woods, well, you really do know the rest. There’s something willfully unscary about what follows, as if director William Brent Bell is trying to prove a point, shining a light on the sheer pointlessness of this kind of by-the-numbers genre trash by turning the film into an almost satirically suspense-free exercise. It’s an explanation that makes more sense than the alternative, that this is somehow supposed to be taken as an earnest straight-faced sequel made by people who give just the slightest of a damn about what they’re doing. It’s so punishingly dull to watch, filled with dry, perfunctory dialogue from Stacey Menear’s consistently uninventive script and shot without even a glimmer of style, that even at a brisk 86 minutes, it feels like unending torture. Even the fun reversal of the first film, that the doll isn’t actually alive but instead, a man is living in the walls, is ruined by a finale that buckles under the weight of its own stupidity, as well as some god-awful CGI. Colon-loving Holmes, next seen in self-help adaptation The Secret: Dare to Dream, is so absent here that claiming she was on autopilot would suggest that she’s actually in the cockpit. She’s somewhere else entirely, probably sleepily wondering the same thing we are: why does Brahms: The Boy II exist and why is she starring in it? Plot [ edit] At the end of the eighteenth century, Marianne, a young painter, is teaching painting lessons. One of her students asks her about a painting of hers, which Marianne calls Portrait de la jeune fille en feu. Years previously, Marianne arrives on an isolated island in Brittany. She had been commissioned to paint a portrait of a young woman named Héloïse, who is to be married off to a Milanese nobleman. Marianne is informed that Héloïse has previously refused to pose for portraits, as she does not want to be married; she had been living in a convent before the implied suicide of her older sister necessitated her return and her betrothal. Marianne acts as Héloïse's hired companion to be able to paint her in secret, and accompanies her on daily walks to memorize Héloïse's features. Marianne finishes the portrait, but finds herself unable to betray Héloïse's trust and reveals her true reason for arriving. After Héloïse criticises the painting, which does not seem to portray her true nature, Marianne destroys the work. Héloïse's mother is shocked to hear that Héloïse is willing to pose for Marianne over the next few days. While her mother leaves for Italy, Héloïse and Marianne's bond grows. One evening, they read the story of Orpheus and Eurydice while debating the true reason why Orpheus turned around to look at his wife. The pair help Sophie, a maid, have an abortion, and the three go to a bonfire gathering where women sing and dance, during which Héloïse's dress briefly catches fire. Meanwhile, Marianne is haunted throughout the house by visions of Héloïse in a wedding dress. The next day, Marianne and Héloïse go to a cave and share their first kiss, and passionately make love later that night. Over the next few days, their romance grows stronger. However, it is cut short by the inevitable return of Héloïse's mother. Marianne sketches drawings of each of them to remember each other, and bids a short farewell. As Marianne runs out of the house, she hears Héloïse say, "Turn around". The second time was at a concert, where Héloïse was overwhelmed with emotions as the orchestra played the Presto from "Summer" from Vivaldi 's Four Seasons, which Marianne had previously played for her on a harpsichord. [11] Filming took place in Saint-Pierre-Quiberon in Brittany and a château in La Chapelle-Gauthier, Seine-et-Marne. Looks really good. Such a beautiful movie. The movie is beautiful. The intensity of just moments touch you soul. It's a mature communication from my perspective. And the ending has left an immense impact on me. I just keep thinking, why would you go through that? Would there be no way? I get the complications she had with her mother and that she felt she wasn't free, but wouldn't it be so lovely if the painter did and was able to set her free not in the methaphoric way. Obviously it's a story and this would be many people's reality, but couldnt you just try? Try to find a way to he together? Or at least be in touch? Why let go something so deep and loving as as just a strong memory. When she sees her at the end, god. It's hard to go after what you want because of circumstances but it also makes you alive. It makes you happier. And to be able to find such magical intense love is so rare. No offense to anything and anyone! I would really like to know what others think about the ending.

A true wholesome artistic portraiture in the cinematic sense, Portrait of a Lady on Fire' delivers earnestly. The painting by Jean-Antoine Watteau 'Pierrot' comes to mind as an influence along with Bresson's flair for capturing human interiors in minimal settings though they are part of a much larger canvas of humanity in which they have been placed through fate. The 'Orpheus and Eurydice' parallel deepens and makes the viewer further understand the inner drama. The film is poetry-in-motion employing the trope of proliferating desire and the spirited rebellion from either characters is shown to be ultimately futile and unfulfilled.
The use of Rococo-style ornamental composition of cinematography adds to the illusion of fire, motion and drama within the characters.
The film rids the viewer from the modern world and transports them to a much different time and place - truly a sacred refuge for the senses.

This film is starting to visit my dreams. I cannot wait to truly experience it, it looks like an unforgettable story. Blimey youve done an incredible job editing this, well done.
